Looked to me like Trump was shmoozing Obama and it worked. They say Trump is a funny guy in private or when he isn't on the war path.
Trump has always been pragmatic. If he were competing in a Primary it would be different. He competes, be it in business, politics or leadership of America and her interest with allies and enemies alike.

Good call on your part! It's the propaganda element. It looks better to the public for a POTUS in waiting to be able to be civil with others ESPECIALLY with a former POTUS. I still refer to past U.S. presidents by their last name PRECEDED BY "PRESIDENT". I do the same for pres. Putin for an example as it's better to show respect/civility in the hopes of bettering the situation, rather than inflaming the situation that just increases hostility which @ current seems to be abundant.

Nobody ever has had political assault like Trump. All of these people have dealt with political attacks, most get along outside the office.
