The authors reviewed numerous nations that tried socialism or Communism. Socialism is an economic system, while Communist is the name of a political party.
The only 3 nations that still have Communism/socialism are North Korea, Venezuela and Cuba.

Socialism sounds good in theory, but it does not work in the real world.
Many nations have a welfare state, but that is not socialism because they still allow private ownership of industry and stores.

Some idiot will show up and try to redefine what socialism is, in 3...2...1...

Preaching to the choir.

The two biggest threats to America, Russia and China yet you say it has failed. You're not that smart sonny.

I'm afraid this country has already gone so far off into socialism that it's going to take another civil war to break free. Sure, the average citizen is allowed to own a business or property. But even then, the taxes on property and income are so high it's ridiculous...you don't really own anything unless you can pay the government taxes, otherwise they shut you down or take that property.

It's not just the taxes the average citizen has to pay, either. At the top, with all the major industries...like pharmaceuticals, big tech (Microsoft, Facebook, Intel), insurance, banking, agriculture, student loans, airlines, auto makers...is that even capitalism going on anymore? Under true capitalism, the investor bears the risk. In these sectors of the economy, those giant companies don't seem to have any risk whatsoever. The government bails them out with trillion-dollar handouts. Or takes total control and dictates how they operate. Or in the case of student loans, they force the people that they invested in into a quasi-indentured servant status. Some of these companies work directly for the Whitehouse to "make sure the citizenry has accurate information" (as in the case of Facebook). Or the congress passes a law giving that pharmaceutical total risk-free-immunity if they want to sell experimental vaccines back to the people for $100 per dose.

No, Viktor, as it stands today, you need to come clean and add the USA to that list of socialist countries. And yes, it will fail just like all the other ones.
