I see a bit of that but the big picture I see in handling of the situation is Trump playing the denial side and the medical science side of the administration (Anthony Fauci in particular) as playing the opposite end. As the situation rapidly progressed it was the medical scientist side that people, including governors of both parties, turned to for leadership.

Such handling politicalized the matter which definitely hasn't been helpful. His comments on downplaying the matter to avoid panic is totally without sense. Americans have had no trouble getting behind a true leader in facing challenges. I'm not sure if or how many deaths could have been avoided. Let's also not forget local businesses planning for the immediate future in terms of sales, workforce and inventory. Being lied to about the situation sure is counter-productive and leads to avoidable hardships as well.

If the Country banded together for that initial onset instead of shutting down in time-separated pockets, we'd have a near-full economy probably as of Late June...but instead, Trump inspired his Cult to be anti-masker, anti-quarantine...it's a hoax, etc. and here we are in fucking September seeing an upward trend headed into the Fall/Flu season.
