For that matter, there's a reason why Harris's husband is in the US and his ancestors did not perish in the Holocaust. They too resolved to only go with people who love them. They didn't require exact proof of their imminent demise before they fled from Nazi Germany. The hatred was proof enough. The hatred coupled with their comparative powerlessness.
