Its the parents job to teach their children to not break the laws. Its also the parents job to dictate how well they do in school.

But actually let me clarify my position, cuz i'm sick of being called a liberal. Just because I am saying what is and what is not socialistic does NOT mean I agree with it. Personally I think that the department of education is a waste, I would like to see much more control be in the states hands, put simply, education is too big to be controlled by the federal government. The ONLY thing I think the federal government should be doing is making a general guideline , so that if a student moves from one state to another he doesn't get totally screwed, by being too far behind in a certain subject.
And more importantly, I'm not even sure that I care if children are forced to go to school. Do I think they should? Yes. Do I really care if Scott grew up on a farm and wants to be a farmer and he and his parents feel that the last couple years of high school would be a waste. Should he be forced to go? Honestly I don't think I can say I do care, and I guess if i don't care then I wouldn't force him to go.
