Yes and those areas burning are heavily populated and beautiful areas. I was privileged to be with a group who had dinner at the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles in the Palisades back in the 1980's and led a communications training conference for that group in Pasadena. Both gorgeous neighborhoods. We attended services at the wealthiest Episcopal church in the USA in Pasadena and also the poorest in East L.A. (The poorest was a lot more fun. ) But the thought of those lovely areas going up in flames is especially painful because I'm familiar with them.

The staff of Death Valley National Park along with local and regional partners were able to manage these fires effectively and efficiently with limited resources. The fires will continue to be actively monitored by NPS staff until declared controlled. 70 % of Death Valley National Park is considered "burnable".Aug 22, 2012

I figure this fire was started somewhere in the middle of the Palisades, maybe by some careless idiot in his backyard. But if it was deliberate and they figure out who, I'd sure hate to be that person.

People usually are the culprits for the forest or wildfires.....about 80% are due to people. The other 20% are due to lightning and winds in tall dry grass. (Causes static sparks which ignights the chaff dust).

Mostly true, but where there is a will, there is a way. Anything can be engineered to resist or minimize fire propagation and damage.
For one thing, you don't build your home on steep hillsides where fire below has no choice but to race upwards on.
Fires just LOVE those steep hills.

Second, instead of pronouns and LGBTQ+ quotas, you spend your time, attention and money on incorporating a massive sea water pumping system out to communities to create soaking lines that can honestly combat massive fires like this to contain their damage.

Finally, you design homes that they are highly resistant to fire.
