SNAP bans on soda, candy and other foods take effect in five states Jan. 1- Thanks RFK!

Then why stop at SNAP? Why not ban these foods altogether?

Again, I remember when you people absolutely lost your shit when Michelle Obama tried to alter school lunches to be healthier.

But now you are suddenly concerned with what poor people are eating?

I am not into banning foods, but we don't have to pay for junk food.
That's what I stated in the post you are responding to above.
The answer didn't change since the last time you asked me that stupid question a few days ago either.

And stop making shit up about me, because you did not hear me say a thing, much less lose my shit about Michelle Obama.
You just cannot turn what I post into your absolute nonsense, no matter how hard you try.

Refined sugar is poison.

If one cuts that shit out of their diet as much as possible, there is nothing but good results.

The soda and candy companies will hate it.

Big Sugar made animal FAT the enemy years ago. Full on bullshit.

I think we subsidize big tobacco enough, don't you?

What I'd like to see is every American having a remunerative job that pays the bills.

Keeping poor people trapped in poverty so we can say stuff like, "You can't have any Oreos, you poor ****!" is just cruel.
Ok, so there's a limit....some would say your banning poor people from buying cigarettes is cruel...

And nobody's "keeping poor people trapped" you moron....

I wasn't even talking to you, but never mind.

You've only been here since November (at least under your current name), so I can only guess what you said about Michelle. I'm sure it was nothing nice.

Here's the problem with "I don't want to pay for junk food". What qualifies as "Junk food"?

Do we ban Froot Loops, but still let people buy Wheaties?

Do Granola Bars counts as Junk food, but Candy Bars do not?

Here's the nutritional label for a Candy Bar

They don't seem terribly different, even though one is marketed as "Health Food".

Since the Surgeon General has determined they are dangerous, and, um, they AREN'T ACTUALLY FOOD AND HAVE NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE, then, um, yeah, they should be restricted from the program.

It's like you don't think these things through at all, do you?

Poverty relief is a huge trap, and I'll give you an example.

40% of households that use SNAP (and Section 8, and Medicaid) have at least one household member who works. But if their earnings exceed a certain amount, "poof", those benefits go away.

So earn an extra $100 a week by taking a promotion or working a little overtime, and you lose $400.00 in weekly benefits.

They don't seem terribly different, even though one is marketed as "Health Food".

One needs to assess added sugar content and saturated fats to total calories.

130 calories and 13 g added sugar for candy bar. (25% of the RDA OF SUGAR IN 130 CALORIES)

100 calories and 7 g added sugar for granola.

Still too much sugar in the granola.

4.5g saturated fat in candy bar, 25% of the RDA.
1.5g saturated fat in granola…6%.

If people on EBT bought granola over candy bars, they would be better off.

Limiting sugar and exercising are among the most important things one can do for their health.

So what you are admitting is that it's all subjective? Sugar by itself isn't bad, it's just a matter of how much. Anything in excessive amounts can kill you.

Of course SUGAR in and of itself is not bad.

I am claiming what I claimed.

Sugar and Saturated fats content per calorie is an accurate barometer.

Honestly, I do not GAF if fat ***** want to sit on their couch and gorge in candy bars and lose a foot to diabetes and die of a heat attack at 45.

Frankly, I would rather my money go to a fat piece of shit drinking Cola than to Somalians faking daycares.

Educate me as to the nutritional value of junk food....And, I would wager that junk food, which causes obesity, causes more deaths than cigarettes...

You just highlighted how Democrats keep minorities in poverty, and uneducated.

SNAP users can buy fast food at KFC or McD's or just about anywhere. No one asks if the meal contains a Pepsi
They can use SNAP to buy McDonalds?!

That should be stopped too. Americans shouldn’t have to buy people on government charity unhealthy fast food. SNAP should be redeemed at grocery stores only, and then only for the following foods:

  • milk, cheese, bread, and eggs
  • ground beef and chicken
  • frozen bags of veggies
  • cans of fruit
  • non-sugary breakfast cereals
  • tuna, PB, and jam
  • bread

Obesity is caused more by genetics than diet.

This isn't about a concern about their diet, this is a bunch of white folks wanting to stigmatize poor folks.

Otherwise, you'd be for banning ALL junk food.

You just highlighted how Democrats keep minorities in poverty, and uneducated.
Right, because Republicans have nothing to do with molding those programs.

they just wreck the economy every few years so more people need them.

Yeah. PUNISH THEM POOR PEOPLE! They make Lisa nervous.

I really do not mind culling out the fat lazy ***** who are committing suicide with sugar and no exercise.

I am not a fan of paying their medical bills.

Obesity is caused more by genetics than diet.
That is a straight up lie...

"Although evidence for a genetic link with obesity is strong, the contribution of genes to obesity is considered small. Environmental factors such as diet and physical activity are believed to be a bigger influence on obesity than genetics alone."

What you arguing here is an 'all or nothing' fallacy...

Right, because Republicans have nothing to do with molding those programs.

Straw arguments, and stupid statements not based in fact with factual citation are dismissed from you.

I see no 400 pound fat ***** running marathons…hell 5ks.

DIET AND EXERCISE ARE THE KEYS TO HEALTH.

Also moderation in booze and hard drugs.

If your diet is healthy and you exercise regularly, but you drink a handle of vodka daily, you will die of cirrhosis.

If your diet is healthy and you exercise regularly, but you use meth, fentanyl, coke, or heroin…you will likely die.

So the only reason there’s an obesity epidemic is because you can buy junk food with SNAP?

I wasn't even talking to you, but never mind.

Then your stupid ass shouldn't have quoted me and used words like "you".
The only thing you have made clear you are sure of, is living in your silly little make believe world.

If you want to know what they are going to qualify as junk food, why don't you look up the list of the foods they are qualifying as junk food? You will find out that there are specific things in the labeling that make the product eligible or non-eligible for purchase with SNAP benefits. And no, I am not going to look them up and list them all for you.

Furthermore, if someone cannot afford the food they eat, the roof over their head, their clothing and their transportation, then any absence of Oreo cookies is the least of their problems. You pretending it is somehow cruel for someone not to get what they want and cannot afford, is by far crueler, because you are teaching people they owed something they are not, and your fantasy world is just a fairytale.

Everything you post contains the wrong message for anyone who wants to escape poverty.
It starts with the understanding that being poor is a consequence, and should not be an acceptable option, even if Joe wants to give you a cookie anyway and pretend that is somehow better.
