Recent films don't interest me much. Not because of any political messaging hiding in the bushes, but because they are mostly insipid remakes, prequels and sequels of things that were already produced several times in various incarnations in the past, written at a high-school level and peopled by cardboard cut-outs passing as actors.

I doubt I have seen more than 10-15 new films at the theater in the last two decades.

In Silence of the Lambs, the female lead's grapple with objectification and sexism was naturally woven into the story and was not "jarringly awkward." Jarringly awkward means an event in the story that REMOVES YOUR ATTENTION from the story.

Modern productions have steady pulse of "jarringly awkard" moments, where the viewer's immersion is ruined.

These entities exist to make money, and would not have so severely damaged their revenue and royalties by akwardly inserting all this Trigglypuff level SJW shit inside their products.
