The ignorance of economics present in what passes for the libturd brain is astonishing. Just simply astonishing.
Much less astonishing is the fact that that rightwinger has simply no idea at all how economic statistics such as GDP are calculated and believes that the value of exported wheat raised in Kansas is reported only in the economic measurements of the Port of New York and not in the measurements of the state of Kansas. This is not a theory, it is not even an idea; it is an absurd assumption which even five minutes of Google investigation would have dispelled.
There are readers as ignorant and as mentally lazy as this poster who will find his observation profound and his use of the word "libturd" amusing. These are today's conservatives.
So a Wheat Growers Assn sells $100 Million Dollars of Kansas Wheat to the Chinese Government and tell me what happens?
I'll tell you since you have no clue.
A contract is signed. No money exchanges hands yet.
The grain is shipped by rail to the Port where it is accepted by the shipper and paid for.
The deal is recorded by the Shipper and taxes are witheld, as required by law.
If the departure port is Los Angeles, the transaction is recorded as a Los Angeles transaction ONLY taking place in a Port. No Sales Taxes are collected.
If export tariffs are due, they are collected by the shipping agent. They are sent to the United States Government along with a standard Income Tax deduction.
The transaction IS NOT RECORDED in Kansas. Or Nebraska. Maybe in your head, but not anywhere else.
Now, the PROFIT (if any) made by the Assn and its member IS reported to the Federal government... In particular, the US Treasury, the IRS.
But it's not recorded as GDP. It never sees any GDP (technically, GSP) list. Can't record it twice.
The sale took place in Los Angeles, NOT in Kansas.
When you get away from giant Port Cities, some of the GDP figures are right.
But this whole thing is just more mental masturbation on the part of the left.
Thinking that Dee-Troit Michigan is the 15th most important, richest hubs in the Country is beyond delusional.
It is simply a place where Autos and other machinery are shipped FROM. Not where they're made.
idiots
All you've done throughout this thread is manufacture a bunch of bullshit. Meanwhile in 2010, there were 7.8 million cars manufactured in the US of which 1.7 million cars were manufactured in the Detroit area. So about 22% of cars manufactured in the US are manufactured in Detroit.
