You should probably be banned from posting in the sports sectionSome people transcend their sport. Biles, Pele, Ali. Thats about it.
I almost have to call bullshit on not knowing Brady or Mahomes. Retton is still remembered today. Even Nadia Comaneci is remembered today. People don't tend to remember Olympic glory (unless you're like Phelps, Jesse Owens, etc.) because they're only really seen once every 4 years.
Which is the point I made about "moment". Because they arent sports that most people pay attention to you have to have a moment to draw eyeballs. I wasnt even tracking that the Olympics was happening this year until they embarrassed themselves with that open ceremony.I almost have to call bullshit on not knowing Brady or Mahomes. Ive noticed a growing incoherence in the responses to this thread. What did Ms Biles do last night ?
Real Americans will have enjoyed it. The rest of the world did.Kicked the world's ass.
must really piss off the haters

Arnold Palmer is the greatest golfer of all time again the gap between him and #2 is significant, oh and the #2 guy is also an American Tiger Woods.
Willams is the best women's tennis player to ever live US or otherwise there isnt even a debate about it. The gap between her and #2 is significant.
Ok. Not sure how that changes the argument.Jack Nicklaus was better than both of them.
She didnt win those tournaments in the open era. In other words all but 11 of her championships were played and won against amateurs not professional tennis players. Prior to 1968 the "Grand Slam" tournaments were just for amateurs.Margert Court had more singles grand slam titles than Williams, what makes Williams so much better than her?

Thats why. Why are you hating on Serena Williams?
Im not a golf guy. I meant jack not palmer. It shows how subjective your list is. How the heck do you put Palmer ahead of Jack?
Can you summarise that ?Why does saying that Simeon Biles isnt the greatest US sports hero in history "hating" on her exactly? Or an insult somehow? 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of all US athletes to have ever competed in the history of the country aren't the greatest either.
Is naming Biles the greatest an insult or "hating" on
Ali
Brady
Mahomes
James
Jordan
Magic
Bird
Jackie
Williams
etc etc?
I was a US athlete in my younger days why are you hating on me saying Im not the greatest sports hero of all time?

But Biles is greater?

The popularity of a sport has to be factored into the "hero factor" or how significant the greatness of any individual in that sport is. Popularity drives participation which drives money which funnels the best athletes into those sports. If you are the greatest in an unpopular sport or less popular sport, say gymnastics or rowing, the competition you are going up against is inherently going to be lesser than soccer, or football. It just is. Not to mention the financial burden being a gymnast carries which most people wont/cant overcome. I need 20 bucks for a ball and piece of grass to become good at soccer. The number of elite athletes competing for starting spots on NBA rosters or top echelon soccer club rosters is exponentially greater than competing for a spot on the US women's gymnastics or crew team.
Can you summarise that ?
