Should Trump help the people of Iran?

The French backed us only because it aided their own interests. It was a minimal risk in comparison to the potential loss for the British. It certainly wasn't benevolent.

Are you seriously comparing the Middle East with colonial era Europe?
Yes. History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes. Jordan was once our bitter enemy and now they are our closest ally there.

Indeed, that is a very sad fact given that we spent billions of dollars and twenty years building up Iraq. Should they not be our greatest friend?

Yeah leave Iran alone. Let the Mullahs murder thousands. Then let them get a Nuke and suddenly they will become a world problem.

I think Trump might airstrike IRGC facilities. He said he would, and I'm inclined to believe him.
He may even blow up the leaders' homes.

Reports from inside Iran say they will continue the riots against the Ayatollah no matter what. They have had it. It is do or die now. The Iran government will have to kill off the entire population to win.

If they've murdered 20,000, there is no going back now. And Uncle Donald is acommin'--- maybe as soon as tonight.

No doubt Mossad inside of Iran will have the targets painted

The Iranian government will never stop trying to procure nuclear weapons though. having them completley out of power would be a good thing. It also becomes one less ally for Russia and China.
Secondly at this point Trump has also been encouraging them to protest and they are getting killed. It wouldnt be then right to abandon them once takinhg that step.
Granted, Trump is not the only one encourging them, they are also following the lead of some exiled prince someplace.

The Crown Prince of Iran, Reza Pahlavi has been exiled in the US since 1979. Right around the time of the Iranian Revolution.

Witkoff and the Crown Prince have been in talks.........my guess is if Trump does bomb and/or interfere with what's going on over there.....he may put the Prince as the new leader

How so? We backed the Afghan government, they no longer exist. Instead it is back to the Taliban. Why should anyone believe whatever comes of this will be friendly to the US? Even if initially friendly, how long will it last? No thanks.

The Iranian people are much different than the Afghans , most of whom dont even know how to read. These are extremely intelligent people who want more and are being held back by 11th century tyrants.
In todays world we really acnt be isolationist, its just a matter of time that whatever is out there is coming to our shore. I dont think we should get involved everywhere, pick and choose the battles based on risk/reward...

In this case It looks like the reward for both the Iranian people and to us internationally outweighs the risk. Iran is already weakened...better to do what needs to be done now rather than waiting until that government might be more of a risk.

Why would the Iranians accept a leader that hasn't even been in the country in over forty year? That would end in disaster. One more reason to stay out of it.

Trump will be the first president since the 1979 revolution to actually support the people of Iran and not throw them under the bus.

After Venezuela and talk of Greenland nobody will confuse us with being isolationist.

Iran was a monarchy government. His father had been the Shah, at the time of the Revolution that the Islamists took over the country and sent Razi into exile. The Revolution in Iran was not of the people against the government, but terrorists take over.

The people have had enough and is why they are protesting. Their lives had been good under the old government, so why wouldn't they welcome Razi?
