The EU will tell Britain to give back the ancient Parthenon marbles taken from Greece over 200 years ago in a post-Brexit trade deal.

not sure about it, Parthenon marbles belongs to entire European civilization , in the same time Muscovite Asiatic barbarians ´d return to all stolen cultural treasures to Belarus

For the restitution is necessary to achieve recognition, that Belarus was a colony of the "russian"

Was it the Taliban that blew up those ancient sculptures/reliefs somewhere in the desert?

Sounds reasonable to me.
Yes, well you would.
The question becomes, should we return cultural treasures to their countries. Imperial powers looted much of the world of it's artistic treasures. Egypt has already asked that a lot of things be returned. The Elgin Marbles should be returned as well.

This isn't about that. Whether the marbles stay or not.

This is the issue about the EU playing dirty. Punishing Britain with trigger points, because it wants to flagellate the UK for daring to leave the "club". And as a warning to the client states who may also want to abscond. Italy, for example.

Next up: Gibralter.

The fishing arguments have already begun.

The EU added an "Elgin Marbles clause" to its demands for a post-Brexit trade deal with Britain on Tuesday, raising fears that it would bolster Greek calls for their repatriation to Athens.

The demand was revealed in Brussels after the EU inter-governmental talks and as Michel Barnier rejected demands by David Frost, the UK's chief negotiator, for a Canada-style trade agreement.

From The Telegraph.

Awesome. The UK should totally return Gibraltar to Spain.

The UK wants the advantages of EU membership without any of the obligations....

The EU is still butt hurt over Brexit and acting like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum over trivia. ...
Maybe. But why should the UK enjoy a benefit of EU membership without holding up any of their obligations?

Disputes with Greece over the Elgin Marbles predates Brexit.

Nope. Had they stayed in Greece they would have ended up as road fill. I say keep them where they are.

Greg
The Caryatids at the Parthenon have suffered from erosion, standing there for forever.

Nothing to do with it. It's a separate argument/issue.

And Greece right now is hardly in a position to lay down the law.

Amazing! You've seen the light. :2up:
Don't flatter yourself. ...

I've always thought Britain should ditch the globalist jew EU agenda, long before I ever heard the term Brexit, and take back their sovereignty and unique British culture.
