He can. Man-Chin did it and I think it might be somewhat common. Don't know for sure.

I'd miss him because I live in Florida and he has been one fantastic Governor. I remember being here after Hurricanes and a dimocrap Governor (Chiles?) or the piece of shit Charlie Crist.

No organization, no preparedness, no -- Nothing.

But the Country is more important tan any one State, even mine. So I say -- Yes.

DeSantis should appoint himself to the Senate.

I've seen and watched him for a long time and he is tough. Not mean, but tough. He can get mean if you push him too far, however. And he represents my beliefs politically.

Gaetz resigned so DeSantis can get an election to replace him maybe even before the House convenes in '25. Just so you know

He can. He should not give up his base of power.

DeSantis certainly can do that, but why would he? He's doing a tremendous job in a higher profile position now. And he doesn't have to move and spend all kind of time in Washington.

Florida is a state that always makes the news.

I suppose if he were serving as governor in a sleepy backwater state and wanted to be higher profile, the idea would have merit.

But IMHO, he should appoint Lara Trump or Melania to the vacant seat and put someone else over.

While perhaps he can, I'm not sure it would be very ethical.
Okay.......

Why?? Man-Chin did it and nobody squawked. When the longest-serving member of the KKK-DNC died

With RDS, it won't flip a seat. It just stays in R hands. There is no (0) -- ZERO chance of it not going Republican anyway.

I'm more concerned about RDS' political future. I think he'd make a great POTUS or V-POTUS

He has 3 more years as Governor (according to google), so I don't see it happening. If he were about to term out form being governor and wanted to be a senator, then It might be something to think about.

"Well listen, Tom threw rocks through Tracy's windows, so why can't I?" Politicians, even good ones, need to be cycled out from time to time, lest they become stale. And hell, what're you gonna do when every single governor in the country starts doing this?

Two more. 2026

I like keeping Lara Trump as the co-chair of the republican party. I think her work for the party is a big reason that Trump was able to win this time around.

THe Senate is solid Repub (except for the RINOS) You need him more in Fla than we need him in the Senate

With cars and women, you might have a point. But good politicians are hard to find. Honest ones.

This doesn't include Man-Chin. Guess it's too old --

Kentucky, 1939 -- Sen. Marvel Logan (D) died. Gov. Happy Chandler (D) appointed self, won elections in 1940 and 1942.

Nevada, 1945 -- Sen. James Scrugham (D) died. Gov. Edward Carville (D) appointed self, lost 1946 primary.

Idaho, 1945 -- Sen. John Thomas (R) died. Gov. Charles Gossett (D) appointed self, lost 1946 primary.

Wyoming, 1960 -- Sen.-elect Keith Thomson (R) died. Gov. John J. Hickey (D) appointed self, lost 1962 election.

New Mexico, 1962 -- Sen. Dennis Chavez (D) died. Gov. Edwin Mechem (R) appointed self, lost 1964 election.

Oklahoma, 1963 -- Sen. Robert Kerr (D) died. Gov. J. Howard Edmondson (D) appointed self, lost 1964 primary.

South Carolina, 1965 -- Sen. Olin Johnston (D) died. Gov. Donald Russell (D) appointed self, lost 1966 primary.

Minnesota, 1977 -- Sen. Walter Mondale (D) elected vice president. Gov. Wendell Anderson (D) appointed self, lost 1978 election.

They were all over the fraud.... Pretty much stifled it from happening again.
