A young minor who commits a first time premeditated massacre as opposed to a first time act of vandalism of petty theft, should be treated as a heinous murderer, whereas an underaged vandal or petty thief should face some kind of punishment as consequence of acts. Imo, there is a vast difference.

The reason you try people as children, is because you're saying they haven't reached a point mentally where we believe they can be fully responsible for their crimes.

So, either they are, or they aren't. Murder or shoplifting, doesn't really matter.

Now, you can make the sentencing in a murder case for minors harsh enough to fit the crime.
