i will believe people who study the game over you...and they say walter was one of the rare guys throwing that fast in the mid nineties...most of the other pitchers were mid to high 80's...if you notice pitchers are getting pretty big now.....you never saw 6'4 pitchers in those days now they are 6'6.....in the 1800's very few players were over 6'0.... in the deadball era you started seen many guys 6'0 to 6'2...In the dead ball era, it was harder to hit a home run. Ball didn't go as far. Any way you shake it, or spin it, Ohtani doesnt come close to Ruth.
and I dont buy thus 85 mph notion. How the hell does anybody arrive at that ?
Ruth played in the same ers as Walter Johnson, known for his fastball in the 90s.
