It seems some Americans do not want America to win ever; not even to mention they would never fight for America under any circumstances-- they are usually referred to as democrats.

Fortunately we do have many willing put their life on the line for America.

Sgt. Bee is one of those.

To be fair, he was actually putting his life on the line for Afghanistan, not America.

To be even more correct, George W. Bush put Sgt Bee's life on the line for Afghanistan, and shifted emphasis to Iraq, leaving Afghanistan as an also war.

Bull Shit!

Every single congressman save one voted for approval of the war in Afghanistan.

you either have a lot of ignorance or a poor memory.

Nonsense.....America went to war in Afghanistan because we were attacked.

The reason we went to war was to destroy terrorists and to prevent more terrorist attacks.

BTW The war on terrorism continues.

The weak and the feinthearted can never stay the course.....pathetic.

By Afghanistan?
That is where Al-Quada was.....Bush offered the taliban a deal either you get rid of Al quada or we will.....the taliban said the Al-Quadea are our guests.

Thus we went over ....over there and ran the al quada out of afghanistan and in the process killed a shit load of them.....payback is a bitch.

Some do not realize the benefits that having a 'nation state' gives a group of terrorists.

We will soon find out once again....history has a tendency to repeat itself.

Turns out that Bin Laden wasn't in Afghanistan. He was in Pakistan, the guest of our "allies".

Got a perfect memory. It was the quest to capture or kill Bin Laden. He hid in the mountains and escaped to Pakistan. We didn't have a war with Pakistan, so no more headlines for Afghanistan, so we spiced thing up by going for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and Afghanistan went back burner. You get no points for blaming Congress. Sure they were no prize, but were sold one thing in afganistan, then we did another, sold one thing in Iraq and then did two or three others. It was all bullsh#t and you know it.

No asshole he was there General Tommy Franks an artilleryman the coc let him escape into pakistan.

We should had a commander more familiar with irregular warfare and how to fight it.

Our special ops team did a fantastic job....around 200 of them working with our Airforce....ran the taliban and Al-quada out of Afghanistan.

Nonsense....I do not blame congress....I congratulate them for doing the right thing.

Look....mistakes are made in any war.

Yet.....Neither the invasion of Afghanistan or Iraq was a mistake.

Mistakes? We had a few...some big ones.....trying to engage in Nation Bdlg. and not going into Iran whilst there.....were some big ones.

As everyone should know but apparantly do not....we are still in a war on terrorism....it is not the kind of war you can end by bringing the troops home.....the terrorists declared war on us thus we cannot simply say we will stop fighting and expect that war to end....but a lot of stoooopid people seem to think that.

Odds are as Senator Lyndsey Graham just said....we will have to go back to Afghanistan.

It was not a mistake to go into Afghanist after Bin Laden. It was a mistake to go into Iraq and then is only got worse and worse as we screwed it up more and more.
It was a mistake to back burner Afghanistan because of slow progress and no Bin Laden. Next big mistake was after killing Bin Laden, we stayed and changed the mission to nation building.
It has to build from within or it ain't getting built.

It was also the right thing to do. We decimated Al Qaeda there. We put a hurtin on the Taliban too.

Yes....trying to engage in nation bldg. is a mistake most especially in a muslim country.

Saddam Hussein had to be eliminated....we did a good job on that.

Unfortunately we did not get rid of the mulahs in Iran and thus we allowed a situation to develop of Iranian irregulars to sneak into Iraq and attack us....we should not have tolerated that.

We should also have teamed up with Israel...that could have been of tremendous beneifit as in they know exactly how to deal with muslims.

Only the Afghan mission for Bin Laden, the rest was mission creep and opportunity. You get a mission that has to be done. Go do it, all out, no holds barred, accomplish the mission and get the heck out. Otherwise you end up like both of those wars. George H.W. Bush is the only one to get it right in that region in 30 years.

Yes...we lingered too long and I think we could have done all 3 countries with a lot less boots on the ground in general by using special ops teams in conjunction with our air force and drones to have accomplished the mission with a lot less costs and casualties.

The old conventional style of war should not have been used....assymetrical warfare is the kind we now need to be conducting.

I am glad he is gone, but no, we didn't even owe anybody that, and it was the straw the destabilized the entire Middle East, not that it was previously a bed of roses, but not our primary problem.
