Before getting into Senator Leahy’s latest lies here’s a few items on his list of personal betrayals that go above and beyond the Democrat party’s agenda:

Patrick Leahy - "Leaky Leahy"

Patrick Leahy - "Leaky Leahy"

Leahy is such a lying hypocrite:

Sen. Patrick Leahy says the American people are at risk of being controlled by their government due to the expansive surveillance powers of the National Security Agency.

Speaking on “Fox News Sunday,” the Vermont Democrat and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee told host Chris Wallace that the nation’s lawmakers must act to return control of the government to the people.

“I think that we are going to maintain our ability to protect the United States,” Leahy began. “That’s extremely important.”

Leahy has no intention of returning control to the American people. If he’s not double-speaking he can start with returning the control Democrats worked long and hard to acquire. If he’s telling the truth he can make a show of good faith and help repeal HillaryCare II. That one law alone gave the government; i.e. Democrats, more control over Americans than FISA could ever accumulate.

Nor is Leahy concerned with the massive invasion of privacy the ACA made legal and available to criminals. Healthcare bureaucrats don’t even have to get a FISA court warrant to do anything they want to do to the American people under the ACA.

Incidentally, Leahy never objected to killing Americans —— death panels, euthanasia, using tax dollars to murder live infants à la Kermit Gosnell, etc. —— yet it only took spying on telephone conversations to bring him out from under his rock.

Throughout the years Democrats were increasing the size of government they were certain they would never be the targets. After all, they had the courts, the bureaucracies, the media, and the education system. FISA, followed by the NSA wire tap program, changed the game. The things Democrats have been doing to the American people for decades might now be done to them. In plain English the totalitarian machinery Democrats built is now in the process of being turned against them. That’s what Leahy is trying to derail.

Leahy is also sick to his stomach that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act will uncover traitors in the Democrat party. Worse still from the global government crowd’s perspective, the NSA program might turn up foreign Socialists plotting against Americans. That would be a public relations nightmare for Democrats because FISA is supposed to catch America’s foreign-based enemies. That includes Socialists/Communists as well as Muslims fighting in Islam's jihad army.

And heaven forbid that NSA wire taps catch that anti-America scum at the United Nations, including our current Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, doing their dirty business beyond what they do openly.

NOTE: Leahy and his fellow Democrats must be sweating bullets at the thought of the NSA sitting on proof of who told Suzy Five Shows to lie about Benghazi. That’s not far-fetched. The NSA program records everything; so there is a good chance Suzy, Hillary Clinton, et al. were caught on tape.

Finally, here’s Leahy’s appearance on Fox News Sunday:

A reminder of who this oaf is:

[Democrat] Senator Pat Leahy was annoyed with the Reagan administration's war on terrorism in the 1980s. At the time he was vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Therefore, "Leaky Leahy," threatened to sabotage classified strategies he didn't like. [In 1988] as the Senate was preparing to hold hearings on the Iran-Contra scandal, Leahy had to resign his Intelligence Committee post after he was caught leaking secret information to a reporter. The Vermont Democrat's Iran-Contra leak was considered to be one of the most serious breaches of secrecy in the committee's 28-year history. Americanchronicle.com

This program really threatens no one unless it's abused. And to date, not a single victim has been identified. Not a single abuse of the metadata has been identified that harmed anyone in any way.

So that's, I think, the real reason why Congress hasn't done anything is that the program has so far worked as intended, although it hasn't done as much as they might have thought it could. But there's no one harmed.

Brit Hume is not often wrong, but he’s wrong about the NSA data gathering program. Average Americans don’t have anything to fear because they have nothing worth knowing in the context of national security. When a character like Leaky Leahy is concerned you know someone is threatened and that someone is not the average American, it’s big shots in government who might have been indiscreet that has Leahy worried.
Remember this. Assholes post perverted pictures of themselves on the Internet; they write embarrassing e-mails, and so on. So there is every reason to assume they made treasonous comments on the telephone, or simply talked to someone they should not have been talking to. Democrats might think they are safe because they used a pay phone, but Leahy now knows that pay phones and throwaway cell phones are picked up, too.

NOTE: UN-loving Democrats owe Edward Snowden a thank you for teaching them not to say anything on the telephone they can’t say in open court. That is Snowden’s irreparable damage and his legacy. Ultimately, Snowden is a classic case of a sick do-gooder doing more harm than good.

In the same vein, J. Edgar Hoover (1895 - 1972) never did anything to harm Americans or the country. He kept the big shots in line because he had something on all of them. When he died his files vanished forever. It was after Hoover died that overt treason took off. The Vietnam War traitors in Congress is but one example. Leahy wants the NSA tapes to vanish the same way Hoover’s files went up in smoke so the traitors can intensify their betrayals.

Parenthetically, I don’t recall Leaky Leahy being outraged in 1996-97 when John and Alice Martin taped Republicans:

In December 1996, a Florida couple, John and Alice Martin, who sounded suspiciously like union goons, claimed to have inadvertently tapped into a phone conversation between then House Speaker Newt Gingrich and House Republican leadership.

According to these Democratic and union activists, they were just driving around with a police scanner in their car, picked up a random phone conversation and said to themselves, "Wait a minute! I could swear that's Dick Armey's voice!"

Luckily, they also had a tape recorder and cassette in their car, so they proceeded to illegally record the intercepted conversation and then turned the tape over to Democratic Rep. James McDermott -- the top Democrat on the Ethics Committee that was at that very moment investigating Gingrich.

Although they swore they had no idea that what they were doing was a crime, in their cover letter to McDermott, they requested immunity -- just as you probably do whenever you write somebody a letter. (They later pleaded guilty to a crime under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.)

McDermott promptly turned the tape over to The New York Times and other newspapers. The Times' headline on the story, "Gingrich Is Heard Urging Tactics in Ethics Case," might as well have been titled: "Tape Shows Gingrich Conspiring to Act Within the Law."

John Boehner, one of the participants in the Gingrich call, sued McDermott for violating his First Amendment rights, which resulted in a court ordering McDermott to pay Boehner more than $1 million.

The Martins later paid a fine:

A Columbia County couple who taped a cellular phone call of House Speaker Newt Gingrich discussing his ethics problems were each fined $500 yesterday.
