Seattle Moves to Cancel the Police

The utopia has arrived!

An armed citizenry is the best police dept by far, less expen$ive also!

Less taxpayer funded trials too, if they are good shots!

I take this back!!!

Washington State has NO castle doctrine law! On the flip side of this, they also have NO 'duty to retreat' law!

So, if a homeowner shoots and kills a home intruder, it's left up to a looney leftist Court.
Fuck that!

SEATTLE — The push to defund the Seattle Police Department could lead to what's called the "Department of Community Safety and Violence Prevention."

City Council members introduced the idea of a new civilian-led department in a resolution on Friday as a place to house services that are moved outside SPD, such as the 911 call center.

Council staff members said the resolution would not abolish SPD, which would remain its own, smaller department.

They will be sending unarmed civilians to situations where they are going to get killed. Of course they will then blame guns and demand we ban them.
Hopefully they are hiring strictly progressive SJW staff for this idiotic experiment. It will be fun to watch them get their ass kicked.

They'll censor it when that happens!

When will muppets learn that the Dimm political class, locally and nationally, will constantly spin, deny, block, or outright lie about the truth!

Hell, we've had Dimm captured cable news reporters, like Ali Velshi reporting live that protests are peaceful, while buildings are burning in the background!

Fuck an A!!!

Guess who's going to be controlling the police dept? If they controls it, they will not have to worry about being arrested or paying taxes. Then they will be above the law.
We will have to pay them for protection.
They are already privatized a few government officials.

Sounds like a stupid idea to me.

Let one civilian get shot and the rest will be running for the hills.

Not necessarily. For example the 911 call routes the calls to the appropriate places. You dont need police responding to everything. It might take some load off the police and allow them to concentrate on on crime.

Yes, because every 911 caller knows how to perfectly describe a situation so a 911 operator can determine if a responder needs to be a cop, or some unarmed social worker. There is no such thing as a concealed weapon, and each 911 caller will have a PH'd in behavioral sciences so they can tell the 911 operator, "the guy in a bikini yelling about lemmings is disturbed but not violent"

Yeah, don't have police respond to criminals. Sounds like a plan.

Absolutely insane... waiting for Coyote's house to burn.

I will love to see a social worker handling someone on drugs or even someone who tried to commit suicide by overdosing on drugs.
They will not be in Kansas anymore.

Don't you think 911 operators are trained to ask the right questions and evaluate the situation before determine who to refer it to?

And of course, the predictable stupid response from you.

How many situations have police been called to, that they were not equip handle? Think about it. Here is one example where the lead should have been taken by someone else, with perhaps a police offer for back up.

Sure they do and you can bet they send the police along with who they need to send.

I was a dispatcher for years and we always sent the police out when we dispatched the ambulance or fire dept.

Yes, but the choice now is police, ambulance, fire, and police go any time there is a question of potential danger to the other two. So what you would end up with is a smaller police force having to respond at the same time as a bunch of new agencies.

It's idiotic.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge it until you see how it works. Are there jurisdictions that already have it in place?
