The high-stakes tug-of-war over American election laws intensified this week as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer pledged a total blockade against the House-passed SAVE America Act.

In an exchange on CNN’s “State of the Union,” the New York Democrat characterized the legislation as a modern-day version of racial segregation, promising that his caucus will fight the bill “tooth and nail” to prevent it from reaching President Donald Trump’s desk.

The SAVE America Act aims to fundamentally shift federal voting standards by mandating that voters present photo identification at the polls and provide proof of U.S. citizenship during registration.

Because the Constitution gives the states the power to conduct elections. If there is no evidence of fraud then why pass it. Clearly Republicans believe this will make it harder to vote which is why Republicans are pushing it and why you support it.

Without voter suppression, Republicans can't win elections. Democrats have won special elections in solid Republican seats.

Elections are run by states not the federal government. Republicans wanted to get rid of the Voting Rights Act and they have largely done that thanks to the Supreme court. Now the Republicans want a national voting bill that suppresses the vote. This bill is about far more than id. It would ban ranked choice voting, sending out ballots to every registered voter and restrict mail in voting. This is about voter suppression. It is also unconstitutional under the Supreme Court's current standards.

Motor voter laws, mailed ballots, and illegals getting driver's licenses beg to differ.

Article I clearly allows congress to set regulations for elections.

It SGOULD be harder to vote. At least as difficult as it is to buy a gun. The POTENTIAL for fraud is more than sufficient to require identification and in-person voting at all levels.

There are four (4) male voters in my home. What’s to stop me from voting under all four names here in Massachusetts? Nothing. Especially since I’m the one who collects the mail and could easily intercept the mail-in ballot requests.
