Saving the Planet One Generator at a Time

Sums up the envirowhacko agenda.

Do you understand? There is still a lot of fossil fuel being burned to power the world. But that amount is shrinking and it will continue to shrink. That someone wants to use a diesel generator to charge EV batteries is a bit silly, but is not the crushing embarrassment you seem to think it is. Remember how you all laughed and laughed at the research vessel that had gone to Antarctica to study the melting ice and got stuck? Is Antarctica still melting? Yes it is. Get the picture?

This is US. Global numbers differ.

Coal is the biggest loser. Renewables and other non-emitting technology are growing and will eventually supplant all fossil fuel consumption. Note the graphic on the left. Fossil fuels went from 93% of energy consumption to less than 80% today. They shrank.
Guess you don’t understand graphs. Yours shows coal going down and natural gas and oil skyrocketing to compensate.

Have a 5 year old homeschooled kid explain it.

I really do wish you would learn the temperature threshold for glaciation at the southern pole. Because the southern polar ice cap is going to be around for a really really long time.

The U.S. Is Pumping Oil Faster Than Ever

"Fossil" fuel is a myth except for coal. Coal is a Fossil fuel but petroleum is not.

Huge difference.

And what is needed is cheap energy. Not just energy itself. We can generate energy by a hamster on a running wheel....but it's insufficient and very expensive.

A portable generator can generate electricity at roughly $0.25/kwh when gasoline is at $2/gallon....and in some areas that's an improvement over what the local power company charges. In other areas its less....just depends on the monopoly.

Diesel lately is sky high at $5/gallon. It used to be cheaper than gasoline. What gives? And also a portion of diesel is bio-diesel these days too. And all trucks need to use DEF as well. Dunno about new tractors.

The Gulf of Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana are practically pumping diesel straight out of the ground....very low refinery time for diesel out of those wells....so I'm kinda stumped as to why diesel is so expensive.

Apparently the switch to ULSD (lower Sulphur) was what jacked up the cost of diesel to out of reach prices...

Gensets are selling like hotcakes, due to poco rolling blackouts ~S~

Yeah....I was thinking of getting one for the house and prefer a diesel genny to propane, nat gas, or gasoline because the diesel will last the longest of any of the fuels and used to be the cheapest way to fuel one.

Also a diesel generator requires less maintenance....also less likely to get stolen by bare handed thieves during big outages. Or thieves with nothing but a pickup truck. A diesel generator requires a Lull forklift or small crane. Not something that everyone will have at their disposal.

Transfer switches are sky high lately too. A 200Amp transfer switch is running around $1k. Manual one is around $300. Which is outrageous prices. Even a stick of ½EMT is running $7/10ft stick.

Yeah , it's all gone crazy inflation time John

I see a lotta handyman installs because of it, tying into a range or dryer outlet, shut off the main so it doesn't backfeed

All bets are off when one is in the dark.......~S~

I need to go into the business of making transfer switches....a $2 box and $3 worth of lugs and viola...."That will be $300 please."

Might be due to big oil being a cartel or near monopoly. They can charge whatever they wish. There are no government regulations and the two political crime families get lots of kickbacks from big oil, while they protect it’s interests. Much like they do with the war contractors and big pharma. Cash cows for the two crime families, while Americans get screwed.
