Beloved San Francisco fetish festival presses ahead amid anxiety, uncertainty over monkeypox

SAN FRANCISCO — Amid a burgeoning monkeypox outbreak that has so far disproportionately affected gay and bisexual men, Bay Area public health officials and organizers of one of the region’s most beloved LGBTQ events are walking a difficult line between preventing the spread of the virus, while fighting the stigma of the virus as a disease limited to the LGBTQ community.

Despite San Francisco officials’ declaration of a public health emergency over the monkeypox virus, organizers of Dore Alley — a live-out-loud leather and fetish festival that’s been a favorite among LGBTQ communities in the Bay Area since the 1980s — said Friday they intend to hold the festival this weekend.

The San Francisco event, which is expected to draw 5,000 people, comes amid deep anxieties across the LGBTQ community over the outbreak, which has proliferated amid a shortage of vaccines. Confronting a disease that has primarily affected men who have sex with men, many in the LGBTQ community fear a replay of the failures of the AIDS/HIV crisis. The confluence of issues has raised difficult questions for Dore Alley organizers, public health officials and LGBTQ advocates, even as they press ahead with the festival.

Well I see CA really cares about it's citizens.....This is the same bunch of fools that arrested a surfer alone on a CA beach during their ill-founded stay at home order but 5K fudge-packers getting their corn-holing on in SF is just fine......Fuckin' freaks.

Hope they wear the right assless chaps to go with oozing pustules.

The vast majority of cases in Virginia are in the NOVA/DC area. You gonna have some splainin to do if you catch it.

Yeah, it does give one pause taking a dump in a public rest room....Anywhere.

Isn't it odd that no effort is being put behind warning folks of possible M-P surface contamination.

Can you get monkeypox from surfaces? Here's what one study found.

They all come your way on holiday weekends. You getting the bumpox yet......

and yes I have seen warnings about clothing and same surfaces spreads but apparently that is not the primary vector. More a technical possibility. The humpty dance seems to be the way monkeypox is leapfrogging along.

So The Up Your Alley Festival presses on nevertheless? monkeypox and all?

Well apart this, nothing else to say: Stupid is as stupid does.

Oh hell...don't complain. Let them have it. Do you remember how the left had cows over the STurgis bike festival and it was going to cause death and destruction all ovah the United States because of these wicked thoughtless bikers? LOLOLOL And here we are, right in the middle of this MonkeyPox outbreak.

Are they complaining now? hell no. That says loads doesn't it?

No one wants to tell the homosexuals and the trans to lay off the sex till the monkeypox is under control. Oh hell no. Just like they wouldn't tell them to lay off during the beginning of the Aids epidemic.

There are going to be repercussions. People are not gonna be around homos. They will be shunned. Maybe we can rid ourselves of a lot of homosexual and crazed trans groomers in public schools.

But no American prisoner has the case stats to break up the mafia assemblage, LGBTQI, to prove that it's reification of the anus that the virus is being forced to exploit.

Bisexual men!? Andrew Dice Clay who said "What is this bisexual shit? Either you suck d--- or you don't." This is how AIDs started killing heterosexuals' and now monkey pox. God didn't give these killers to spread around.

Faggots would take toddlers dressed up in leather fetish gear to those festivals, sick pieces of shit that they are. And yes, they are a major public health menace, as always. From the pics of that sick festival they really like to urinate on each other in public as well.
