I served five years on active duty and three in the active reserves plus two more in the inactive reserves while I was in college. As for obesity or stupidity, I passed the mandatory physical standards every year and was a 55D20 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, only the top five percent of intelligence scores qualify for that school and it had an eighty plus percent failure rate when I attended. I was also a 12B20 Combat engineer and a 71L20 Administration specialist at different times

After the unprovoked attack in 2014 when Russia invaded and conquered Crimea, Ukraine changed from the Russian training methods it used to use and shifted to a professional western training model. Ukraine with far less manpower and using Russian or Russian-based armor and artillery fought the invading Russians to a standstill without western assistance. With minor western financial and equipment assistance Ukraine has wrecked the Russian army and forced Russia to squander almost all of its military equipment stockpiled since WWII. Russia is reduced to using North Korean and Chinese troops and importing over a million Indian factory workers to keep its economy going.
