The remnants of the 20th CAA that were defeated in Kiev were shifted to Izium, where they were defeated again. The remnants of the remnants in Izium (about 2500 troops) were shifted to Lyman, and now they are encircled and will either surrender or be killed.

The 20th CAA is effectively removed from the Russian ORBAT, along with the 1st Guards Tank Army (currently being "reinforced" by mobiks), and soon the 6th CAA will join them in oblivion.

These were the "elite" formations of the RF, tasked with the NATO scenario and the defense of Moscow. They've lost 60-80% of their troops, tanks, and armored vehicles.

The reserve officer cadre was disbanded in the 2000's by Putin as a cost cutting measure, and the active duty training cadre was sent to Ukraine early in the war. So the mobilized troops have no trainers, no equipment, and they are being deployed piecemeal to battered formations in an attempt to shore up the front lines.
