Putin needs to be removed. Preferably by killing him. The sane members of the Russian government or military, or Russian civilians, need to stage a coup and terminate Putin's rule. Hell, I'd even be okay with Western special operators taking him out.

Overt action by Western militaries, however, might galvanize Russian nationalists who oppose Putin into seeing it as an attack on Russia as a whole and cause even more widespread military action. Nobody wants that.
