Ronnie says Negro! No one cares!

Exactly what does a "negro" look like and talk like.... I mean is there one specific "negro" that all other "negroes" look and talk like? Oh, whooooooops, I forgot ALL THOSE PEOPLE LOOK ALIKE!

For a self described "searcher of accuracy" your are patently dishonest in your tactics.

No, what I am doing is, ONCE AGAIN, pointing out the stereotype and being sarcastic as you are so repetitively obtuse in your determination to pronounce that you are really boring the **** out of me!

How would you know what is "offensive to African-Americans?" Did all the African-Americans elect you their spokesperson? Many? Some? A few?

Are ALL African-Americans equally offended by exactly the same things?

Who, to get right down to it, who exactly is an African-American? What exactly constitutes African-American-ness? Suppose someone is of mixed ethnic heritage, what are the percentages? I mean exactly how many countable ancestors does one need?

I suggest you go read my posts in this thread so you are ACCURATE in your assesement of what i'm claiming.

Seriously you need to change that "Searcher for accuracy" thing now.

EDIT: BTW I'm personally offended by reid's comments.

Time for me to leave this debate.
But in a world where it is OK to be offended by someone who fly's ther flag and offended by the sight of a Christman Tree, I am confused as to why some feel I have no right to be offended by a political leader implying that me and my fellow citizens usew the darkenss of ones skin to make life affecting decisions.

Here's an idea. Why don't you quit being a disingenuous fucktard?

Like it or not, it's pretty well understood that there are a lot of things that contribute to the electability of a candidate including, height, weight, looks, gender, race, etc. To pretend to be offended by somebody commenting on this is decided fucktardery.

Welcome to USMB, *****!

But I guess I can only express my being offended in a forum as long as it is the result of anyone but those with a liberal bias. Afterall, those with a liberal bias never do anything wrong. They are all perfect and even when they do something wrong, only those offended by it are in the wrong.

Imus referred to the Rutgers BB team as ho's. He was in the worng, and the girls had a right to be offended. (and I agree)

Letterman refers to Palins daughter (same age as the BB players by the way) as a slut, and Palin was in the wrong for being offended and Letterman was just joking. (and I disagree)

Something for you guys to think about.

Just because you did not or do not base your choices on ethnicity does not mean that others do not. Must you take on being offended for the actions of some others for things that they may do that you would never? Are you that into collective guilt?

Anyway, here is a gift for you, you need not get offended on my behalf, as I am capable of determining what I (a citizen) will or will not be offended by, so I absolve you of the heavy responsibility, and I take the burden off of your shoulders!

"Negro private colleges and universities"

"The United Negro College Fund"

Reagan's comment is in the same vein as Reid's, ignorant and outdated but not malicious or hateful.

Oddly enough, you are almost half right.

The use of the antiquated term "Negro" is now deemed politically incorrect, but in the old days, it was considered the polite term for people of African extraction. I mean, for God's sake, when Dr. King used the word "Negro," it's quite clear that HE wasn't being racist or maligning his own race.

The reason that Dingy Harry Reid's use of the term "Negro" is challenged is not because his old-fashioned terminiology is itself "wrong." Maybe he's just reverting back to the old days where such terminology was the same as being proper and respectful, in fact. No no.

The reason Dingy Harry gets challenged is because what he is SAYING is that America wouldn't vote for a dark skinned black man. It's not blacks that puke was maligning. It's the majority of American VOTERS whom he maligned. The arrogant prick.

looks like you have three questions for me... but I never knew a jarhead with the intelligence to count, so .... no biggie.

1. yes
2. no
3. Reid's comments about a "negro dialect" precluded the king's english part of that question. I do NOT think that America would elect a black man who spoke ebonics. do you?

OK. Now we are getting somewhere.
First of all. You criticizing DD's intelligence wqas warranted with my asshole hack crap. SO I will not respond and ask that we start over.
Secondly. I do not believe Americva would elect any man or woman that did not speak English the way it was taught in American schools.
So overall, looking at your response, Reid was not accurate by any means. More likely than not, Obama's skin TONE played no role in his getting elected.
His dialect did. But that would hold true for any color candidate.
Do you now MAYBE see my point?
The dialect thing did not bother me in the least. The lightness of Obamas skin thing did.

and I will ask you again: have you LOOKED at photographs of african american politicians who have been elected by white constituencies? What color is the skin of the vast majority of THEM? Reid was making an accurate political observation....nothing more.

And many of the rutgers basketball team had nappy hair.
So I do not see what your point is.
Well, I do see what it is, but I am confused by your hypocrisy.

I saw Imus as wrong.
I saw Reid as wrong.
I saw Biden as a victim of faux outrage (a la clean and articulate)

Seems I am consistant. Can you say the same?

That about sums up your post alright.

Reagan also said this:
There is no law saying the Negro has to live in Harlem or Watts.

your OP is dishonest

he wasn't just saying negro, he was referring to the UNCF and their colleges...but you, as usual, dishonestly tried to make it like he was just saying negro when in fact he specifically talking about UNCF and their colleges

now, after your OP is shown to be bunk, you come up with another one

what is the context and when did he say that ravi?

Ronnie, Byrd, Reid - this whole froo fra is retarded. Those men belonged to a generation where "negro" was the polite word to use. When Byrd referred to "white *******" he may have used non-pc words but it certainly wasn't intended as a slur on black people. When I was growing up - "negro" was the right word. Then it became black. Then it became "African American". My grandfather still referred to "negro".

Isn't it time to just get over it and quit with the political jacking off?

I can see the talking points email went out.

When the use of the word Negro failed to insult blacks, much to the dismay of Republicans, they decided to be offended themselves.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Oh bullcrap. I see the same blind hypocrisy in conservatives. It's called partisan.

Yep, the world is back to normal. It's okay for Republicans to use the term negro but it is a sin for Democrats to do so.

I knew Ronnie would set things right.

Last word.
Going out on a limb, but what the heck.

I see most of asian descent as looking alike. Similar cheekbones, most have the same hair color, most have the same straight thin hair, most have a similar tone of skin color, most are 6' tall or shorter.

If Harry reid accidentally referred to Jane Kim as Sally Chang, and when he was corrected he responded with the truth that "they all look very similar to me"....would you give the guy a pass?

I mean. Afterall. He simply said what was true.

I thought political correctness addresses that very issue. NOT saying what is true. Being sensitive to other people. Not Generalizing many of a group based on the actions of a few.

Why is political correctness followed to the letter of the law as it pertains to profiling for terrorists, but cast to the wind as it pertains to what a politician says.

You folks on the left. I fear you are truly blinded by what is happening around you. And you are defending it and allwoing it to become an epidemic with everything that goes on around us.

I suggest you think about it.

Absolutely 100% correct.
However, I was the first to jump on the Imus thing, the first to jump on the letterman/palin thing, the first to jump on the Reid thing.
I am consistant.
Those that supported Lewtterman for calling Palins daughter a slut are the same ones who jumped all over Imus for calling the BB team ho's.
That is not consistant.

15th post
It's official.

Democrats no longer have a monopoly on running amok with political correctness.

True story.

No one supported him.

Why are you insulting sluts, btw? How terribly, terribly unPC of you.

Ah, but you see (well, no, you don't actually, you being blindly partisan)

unlike you, I wasn't being hypocritical.

Unlike you, I can, do and have criticized Republicans. You ONLY criticize Republicans.

Unlike you, I have thrown the flag when anybody nominally on my side of the political spectrum has said something factually incorrect. Like "death panels." I detest that bullshit universal health care (proposed) legislation in most of its possible forms, but there is still no "death panel" in any of it as far as we have seen.

Probably. I would say it was a stupid thing to say and insensitive but would I call for his resignation over it? No.

By the same token I have no issue with Reagans use of "Negro".

Intent matters a lot. Compare it to, say David Duke or Strom Thurmond - a supporter of segregation to the end.

I thought political correctness addresses that very issue. NOT saying what is true. Being sensitive to other people. Not Generalizing many of a group based on the actions of a few.

PC is BS. It may have started with good intentions, but it doesn't change attitudes, only language and it ignores the intent of the speaker if the right words aren't spoken.

Why is political correctness followed to the letter of the law as it pertains to profiling for terrorists, but cast to the wind as it pertains to what a politician says.

Profiling isn't about PC - it's about rights.

You folks on the left. I fear you are truly blinded by what is happening around you. And you are defending it and allwoing it to become an epidemic with everything that goes on around us.

I suggest you think about it.

I suggest you remove your own rightwing blinders before criticising those of others.
