Well number one the Republicans lost the Senate, the House and the Presidency (a hat trick) in Rump's tenure; number two Rump only won his own term via a freak happenstance that made clear he never had public support; number three while it's expected from historical pattern that the political party holding the White House loses Congressional seats in the midterm, Rump's shenanigans ensure that these are not normal times.... ultimately though "who wins this part, who wins that part" is not the point here. The point is that the Republican Party is fractured. A house divided. To the extent one believes in a political party machine as a consolidation of a common agenda, the party can't do it. The "common" is missing. When your "team" can't get everybody on the same page, it loses focus, it loses momentum, it becomes impotent.
