The anti-Trumpers, not just democrats, are glad to see Cornyn lose. He was a much better candidate than Paxton, but that increases the chances of the republicans losing the Senate.
Cornyn supported Trump, almost, 100% but Trump endorsed Paxton because he kissed Trump's ass more.
