(CNSNews.com) – Much to the surprise of many Americans, the Obama administration is revealing its plan to retake Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, months before the anticipated battle happens.

An official from U.S. Central Command told reporters on Thursday that the fight will likely begin in April or May and will involve up to 25,000 U.S.-trained Iraqi troops.

“It’s very mystifying why this administration would reveal potential plans to retake Mosul,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) told Fox News’s Megyn Kelly Thursday night.

“If a private in Iraq had revealed this kind of planning inadvertently by leaving a plan in the chow hall or the gym, he might have faced a court-martial, but it’s now become a matter of policy this administration is going to announce war plans in advance.”

Tom Cotton, according to the article, is the initiator of that expose`.That becomes more understandable considering his southern roots ( Arkansas senator). He is cited as being a former Army Infantry Officer but there is nothing in the article indicating he retired or ever was a LT. General. He simply acted as a shill to get this "aiding and abetting the enemy" rhetoric on the airwaves. To make more of an impact and lend credence to Cotton's input there had to be more credentialed support. Enter retired LT Gen. Tom McInermey , a vietnam era pilot.

McInermey has my respect in that he served his country and was a pilot who flew many combat missions, albeit in a bygone era. That doesn't qualify him to be a pundit on the handling of international affairs in any era; but, especially today. If he was not suited for that role in criticizing his Commander In Chief(s) during the Vietnam fiasco, why should he suddenly find his calling "now?" Obviously, the anti -Obama news hounds sniffed the wind and caught the scent of a story. How and why they selected McInermey has not been revealed but you can bet he was making his feelings about Obama known well before they found him.

At 77, MInermey may not have to worry about his pension being taken away or have to sweat being held accountable for expressing his unqualified opinion on international affairs and Obama's handling of such matters. He should, however, leave it there and go no further. Retirees are still subject to the UMCJ and the President of the USA is still their Commander In Chief!

The military released them before they were ever told to the public, and it is no surprise to ISIS members in Mosul since Kurdish and Iraqi militias have been encircling Mosul for weeks and more bombing missions have been diverted to Mosul...for the coming battle....
