I thought it was a crew cab when I bought it, but now one aftermarket seller says the extra room behind the back windows makes it a mega cab.

Glad to have the extra room, but now I'm finding limited availability for running boards that fit.

I'm finding very few that fit the Mega Cab.

Thanks for any tips!

Check some Dodge Ram Truck owner forums.

That's where you'll get the best information.

For instance...

A search from within the first random Dodge Ram owner forum I clicked on using the search terms ''Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab running boards'' returned these results from within that forum.

But there were several threads on that one particular owner forum I clicked on to perform the search about different compatible running boards.

Oh, good. It's a good idea to maybe look around at the different Dodge Truck forums until you find one that you like and join it.

There's a lot of knowledgeable people on vehicle specific web sites like that and they're always good for finding parts/customization resources or when/if you might have a problem you need/want to resolve yourself. And you learn a lot of other things about your vehicle that you might not otherwise have known.

I'm curious to know what it says on the title. Anyway, looking at the first photo you've provided the running board looks the same on both the Quad Cab and the Mega Cab. You don't need to step up past the doors unless it gives access to the bed. It doesn't.

I have an old Acadia and I get good info from the GMC Acadia forum Im on.

So yeah, those forums can be VERY informative.

Yeah. And they can also be very enjoyable/stimulating ways to blow spare time compared to the misery inducing, and generally mean-spirited environments that the political forums on the www tend to stimulate.

I'm on the Corvette Forum and I'd say that it's probably my favorite web site in general.

Well, the Acaida forum isn't very busy.
I mean, you WILL get an answer, but they aren't big on "small talk". LOL

mine came with them that just went to the back of the cab,,

there is an aftermarket that goes all the way to the back tire but I dont know where to get it,,

let me google it for you and get back

I usually find interesting stuff for my vehicle at custom/trick shops online.
They usually have weird stuff you can't find anywhere else.

You might even want to check out something custom made at some custom shops.
If you go custom though, make SURE it is noted on your vehicle insurance, so they payout the custom price if anything were to happen to them.

Amp might make one for it. I have a set on my truck. They're great if you don't get them in mud and snow. They are powered, and they work great unless you are in an area where they don't stay clean. I would recommend fixed running boards in inhospitable conditions.

Yes, that is what I was thinking.

Maybe the makers believe their running boards will not look as good if they do not extend the whole length of the cab?

There is at least one brand in which the running board is attached to the bracket in an adjustable slot, not holes. So, I'm thinking there may be some flexibility.

Yes, maybe I'm stupid but I would expect the title to state Quad Cab, Mega Cab, Whatevever Cab. Even if it were an "extra" from the factory running board. I'm sure Dodge didn't give them away free of charge so it should be on the title. But of course I can be wrong. As far as "looking good" you could be right and I guess the full length (wheel to wheel) might be called the "Tommy Gun" acccesory. :) Yes, that adjustable slot sounds like you figured it out already. 👍

Texas titles arent nearly that detailed. The VIN # ensures it is the correct vehicle.

I don't think it ever has a running board.

Hopefully . . .

Why wouldn't standard 1500 steps fit?
