I might see some value in funding a lab in the UK to research enhancing a coronavirus to research possible treatments and vaccines.

I don’t see any value in funding a weapons lab in China (a nation who is threatening a nuclear war with us) to develop a new bio-weapon by enhancing a coronavirus.

Even a great man can do foolish things and this looks like a prime example of that fact.
