Plaintiffs hoping to reshape federal or state policies will no longer be allowed to choose which judge will hear their case, at least in federal court. A new policy announced Tuesday by the Judicial Conference of the United States, a government body that sets policy for federal courts, targets rules in some federal courts that the conference said “risked creating an appearance of ‘judge shopping.’”

At least in the short term, this policy is a massive victory for the Biden administration — and, indeed, for anyone who believes that federal and state policies should not rise and fall based on one outlier judge’s partisan views.

Texas’s Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, for example, has been very aggressive in bringing lawsuits that challenge Biden administration policies before right-wing judges who have then issued sweeping, nationwide orders blocking those policies — sometimes on highly dubious grounds that are reversed, months later, by the Supreme Court.

Among other things, this practice turned Matthew Kacsmaryk, an obscure advocate on the Christian right appointed by former President Donald Trump to the Northern District of Texas, into one of the most powerful government officials in the entire country. Because Kacsmaryk is the only federal trial judge in Amarillo, Texas, any case filed in Amarillo was automatically assigned to him.

I never understood how this could have been allowed in the first place. But if there is a chink in the armor of democracy and justice Trump and Repubs will find it and exploit it. Thank goodness it's been fixed.

Democrats do the same thing you dumb-ass.

Do not ever under estimate trial attorneys. BEHIND the scene their exists quite an extensive 'touch & go' network that intertwines through all level$ of government, financial institution$, political organization$ to include ambassador$ & a host of other national/international power & control player$. As far as POTUS candidate$ go the winner is usually decided long before the American Constituency votes. The judge$ ESPECIALLY the federal judge$ are well briefed by their handler$(manager$) on how to 'conduct bu$ine$$'. The American Constituency are well 'massaged' by the Major Managed New$ Media(MMNM) so the Constituency do not stray off their 'predetermined' course.

Take a look @ the two $MILING faces below. (If U were in one of their shoes u would be smiling too!)

The job of these two was/is to monitor the 'control board'. The green light lights up on the control board & their command is issued to the oil fields "All discharge valves open EMERGENCY FULL FLOW SAY AGAIN FULL FLOW!" Next day there's 6/7 million $$$$$ more in their bank accounts. Red light comes on & the orders are "EMERGANCY ALL FLOW VALVES CEASE ANY & ALL FLOW." Next day there is 6/7 million more $$$$$ in there banking account. Play the 'touch & go' game & they get rich, don't play the "touch & go" game & a coup is staged & their funeral is then arranged. Honestly, the judges U R talking about are just another cog on the wheel. Any high profile cases a judge may be confronted with will attract attention from those above the judge in question, meaning a high profile case will AUTOMAICALLY be putting INDIRECT but OBVIOUS pressure on a judge from one direction or the other.

Democrats do the same thing you dumb-ass.

Tell us about one right the Democrats have stripped from the rest of the country.

Democrats are in the business of restoring rights not stripping them. That would be the Republican party stripping voting rights and personal privacy rights from people.

Does this mean that the democrats are going to stop judge shopping in the SCOTUS?
