Republicans storm closed-door hearing to protest impeachment inquiry

House Republicans stormed a closed-door hearing Wednesday morning to protest Democrats' impeachment inquiry process, breaking up the deposition of a top Defense Department official who was testifying about President Trump's dealings with Ukraine.

Republicans storm closed-door hearing to protest impeachment inquiry

Awww, poor, unruly Republicans. Crying like babies because they don't have access to those hearings -- even though there are Republicans who serve on the investigating committees; and whining that this isn't an official impeachment inquiry because there was no House vote -- even though there's never been a House rule mandating a full House vote to authorize an impeachment inquiry.
Why hide?

Mic drop
Because this is an investigation. Like Mueller held investigations in secret. Witnesses cannot co-ordinate testimony.

Has the DOJ followed up the criminal referrals about this Ukraine scandal, the House would not have to do it themselves.

Before the previous impeachments, a Special Prosecutor was named (Cox, Starr, Mueller) held grand jury investigations and produced a report submitted to congress. The William Barr DOJ denied any investigation, a cover up.

Articles of Impeachment will be drafted in public hearings. This is the procedure laid out in the constitution.

Arguing process shows a lack of defense of the allegations. Why aren't Trumpians shouting about the allegations?

Who's hiding? There are Democrats and Republicans participating in these hearings. Next time, try not to drop the mic on your foot.
No transcript? No open hearings? Why can’t republicans talk about he hearings in detail?
Who said Republicans can't talk in detail about what they hear?

Oh... you said that.

:lmao:

So why hide it? You're investigating the President. You don't get to do that behind closed doors. Not a real investigation. Nobody would give a shit except liberals keep leaking shit that makes the president look bad when republicans who are there are saying a whole lot of stuff that makes the president look quite innocent is NOT being leaked.

Selective leaking out of a closed door hearing is illegal.

Dems doing what they do best-reverting to decades ago for an erroneous comparison
Clinton was not elegible for re-election and had not been witch hunted since 5 minutes after he won.

It's about time the Republicans showed they have some balls.

Schiff lol wow you are clueless ha

Aww silly republicans expecting the democrats to follow the law and be fair. How stupid of them huh
What law are Dem's breaking? Does it have a number so we can look it up?

Sixth amendment to the constitution. Look it up. If you say this doesn't violate the 6th then you admit that it's a sham investigation that holds no legal clout whatsoever. Take your pick.

What happened to transparency that liberals touted so hard before?

I guess it's getting a bit hot--for the Trumpkin brigade:

Republican protest delays impeachment testimony from Pentagon’s Ukraine expert

"On Tuesday, members of the House Freedom Caucus met with Trump at the White House, where they emphasized their support for the president, according to one lawmaker who attended, Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-Tenn.). Trump told them to be “tough” because Democrats are “fighting dirty and have been fighting dirty” and that “maybe it’s time to take the gloves off,” according to DesJarlais.
Trump’s meeting with his congressional allies came as the Democrat-led inquiry appeared to gain steam with testimony from William B. Taylor Jr. The acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine detailed for impeachment investigators how he was told by other officials that the military aid’s release was contingent on a public commitment by Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, to investigate the Biden family and interference in the 2016 election.
In a 15-page opening statement, Taylor gave a detailed account of his growing awareness between June and mid-September that Trump was seeking to pressure Zelensky into investigating a domestic political opponent.
Joe Biden, the former vice president, is seeking the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. His son Hunter was a board member at Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings from 2014 to mid-April of this year.
Taylor also described two distinct channels he said emerged for U.S. policymaking toward Ukraine under Trump — one overseen by the diplomatic establishment and another overseen by the president’s personal attorney, Rudolph W. Giuliani, with assistance from several Trump appointees."

I'm not surprised you don't have the intellectual weight to understand why some hearings have to be behind closed doors.

You know...like the Benghazi hearings.

Democrats are not only colluding with Russia, they're behaving like them now. The Kremlin is known for it's one sided investigations.

Democrats have done more to try to overthrow our duly elected gov't than Putin could ever hope to.

Believe me dems, you're making Putin very proud.
I guess you have zero knowledge about how Grand Juries operate.

Yea I do you might want to tell your democratic colleagues on the hill how they operate. They're not supposed to leak information from these closed door hearings. If they're closed door, then they are 100% closed door. You don't get to say what you can and can't leak out.

Republicans who have been in on the meetings have already said that tons of information that is exculpatory to the president has been stated but since it's classified they can't talk about it. But liberals illegally leak stuff out of the hearings that makes the president look bad. They violate the law but since when do they give a fuck about the law?
LOLOL

You say that as though Republicans haven't been giving interviews outside the doors to these hearings.

Because it isn't.
The left have abandoned their own agreement made in 1998.
Democrats have abandoned bipartisan format of Clinton impeachment
The Democrats are employing a far different procedure than the accord the parties arranged two decades ago when lawmakers weighed the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.

Democrats paid few compliments to the House Majority GOP in December 1998, when the party opened a formal impeachment inquiry into Clinton based largely on his tryst with a White House intern.

But Democrats at the time acknowledged the two parties cooperated significantly when it came to setting the rules for the inquiry, even though most Democratic lawmakers objected to impeachment.

The Clinton impeachment inquiry opened in December 1998 with a bipartisan agreement that the rules would be based on those used in 1974 during the impeachment investigation into President Richard M. Nixon. Those rules provided the minority with some rights, including the power to call witnesses and to seek authority to issue subpoenas.

The cooperative deal for the Clinton inquiry was struck by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Henry Hyde of Illinois, and the top Democrat on the panel, Rep. John Conyers, Jr., of Michigan.

It's legal politics but very underhanded and dirty.
Communist countries use this tactic of no representation.

No it’s not. It’s our reps asking questions in our house. With out us knowing.. why are they hiding?

How does the 6th amendment give gop house members a right? There's no criminal prosecution going on. and why did the gop house hold secret hearings?

I know it's too hard for you parroting rubes to figure out why some hearings are done behind closed doors.

But don't worry, kids. The transcripts of all these hearings will be made public after they are concluded. Then you won't have anything to whine about any more.

Oh, wait...of course you will. You will then parrot what you are told to parrot about the hearings, just like you are now.

they need a better FAKE NEW SITE, because the 6th amend doesn't have shit to do with congressional hearings. A witness has some rights, but congress doesn't get "individual rights."
