Obama released 30million barreles of the emergency reserves; he also increased MPG standards which will result in lower total gas costs. Also his Cash for clunkers program resulted in millions of people getting more fuel efficient cars lowering their total gas costs. He also blocked the XL pipeline which if built would result in the Gas prices int he Midwest increase by as high as 30 cents per gallon
