Republicans A No Show At Western Wisconsin Farmers Meeting. Democrats Showed Up

Dailykooks?

Since when does a representative have a mandatory court date of a little farmers meeting in nowhereville WI?

Here's a quarter, call someone who cares.
Few people are aware of this but Farmers, Big Farmers, are some of the biggest Corporate Welfare Whores in The Country. Believe it.

This may be another canary in the coal mine moment for Republican politicians. The Wisconsin Farmers Union held an event in Chippewa Falls to discuss Trump’s actions with regards to farm policy, and the invited Republican politicians were a no show. No staff were there either. Four Democrats who were invited did show up at the meeting, so they got to listen to all the incoming financial pain that Wisconsin farmers face from the onslaught of Trumponomics.
My spidey sense tells me that the Republicans simply did not want to face the pain and possible wrath of the farmers.

Democrats who showed: U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Black Earth), state Sen. Jeff Smith (D-Eau Claire) and state Reps. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) and Christian Phelps (D-Eau Claire).

The list of No Show Republicans: U.S. Reps. Tom Tiffany and Derrick Van Orden, state Reps. Rob Sommerfeld (R-Bloomer), Treig Pronschinske (R-Mondovi) and Clint Moses (R-Mondovi) and state Sens. Jesse James (R-Thorp) and Rob Stafsholt (R-New Richmond).

No indication in the article how the farmers at this meeting voted in the last election. But the conditions outline above are probably very true of many other rural areas across the U.S. And seeing as Trump wants to cut SNAP, Medicaid, destroy USAID, impose tariffs, and deport the rural workforce, I’d say that these WI farmers are going to facing some extremely harsh realities very soon.

I'm sure they didn't show up. Maybe the farmers will show up at their offices.

Fisher told the Examiner his farm has participated in a USDA program to encourage better conservation practices on farms and that money has been frozen. He was also set to receive a rural energy assistance grant that would help him install solar panels on the farm — money that has also been held up.

The result, he said, is that he’s facing increased uncertainty in an already uncertain business.

Depending on government handouts might not be the way to run your farm, going forward.

Don’t like the source, try another one.

Not making excuses. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of people like you. Funny how you suddenly care about American farmers.

You are making excuses. Your made up claim is BS.

Yeah, Republicans hid from an event because they didn’t want to hear from the victims of your beloved fuhrer’s chaotic mismanagement.

It’s happening in a lot of places these days.

They didn't want to hear whining from a group of left-wing farmers. Weird.

If you need to be told, the town halls have been packed with constituents demanding answers from their congress critters. You should pay attention.

I'm sure a lot of left-wing farmers who didn't vote for the
Republicans showed up to the town hall.

Repug Cowards. Afraid to face the wrath of farmers disgusted with what Trump and Musk are doing.
