Report: Trump to Take Control of USPS, Dismiss Postal Board

No, because a vet gave part of their life to this country. DEI doesn't cover that, you only have to be cited as: 'diverse' 'equitable' and 'inclusive.' Totally different.
i agree but many of those vets are minorities so many on the right will start talking dei....

Mail should be privatized.

It is a money pit.

Dummy, the post office isn't supposed to make money. It's a service for the American people. I can't wait till people on routes that would never be visited by a private company suddenly have to travel 40 miles in order to receive their mail, or to mail something.

President Donald Trump is preparing to dissolve the leadership of the U.S. Postal Service and absorb the independent mail agency into his administration, The Washington Post reported on Thursday.

The newspaper, citing six people familiar with the plans, reported that Trump is expected to issue an executive order as soon as this week to fire the members of the Postal Service's governing board and place the agency under the control of the Commerce Department.

Imagine the TDS over MAGA Forever stamps. ;)

Ends DEI there once and for all.
Fair exams no preference except for combat vets.
Get rid of all the DEI bosses from top to bottom.
So, my daughter who served 7 years, went to Iraq and never was assigned to combat doesn't get preference, but my son who went to Afghanistan does? Not fair. Veteran's preference is OK the way it is.

If it is not supposed to make money, why do they charge at all?

Your “dummy” blast hurt my feelings. I am triggered. I am going to get into my car, scream and cry into my phone, and post it on all social media…you bully.

Well, good thing I am rubber and you are glue.

They still need to charge, even if they're not making a profit.

I’ve detailed for 3 years now the problems here with mail delivery. The postmistress is confrontational and always talks about sickness, vacation., weather, steep street…….as to why we Never get 6 day delivery, usually 4-5 and at times 3.
Changing the entire system will not likely change your problems. Go over her head!

You want your tax dollars paying for people to send you junk mail?

its supposed to break even mandated by congress.....we have had PMG's from the private sector who quit after a few years because they said you cant operate a business like this .....to many people looking over your shoulder.....having to answer to this postal committee or that one....having everything you do get questioned by someone who has no idea what is going on....its a joke...

Government agencies like USPS are not set up to be profitable. We The People have decided we want the Federal Government to handle our mail which, in the past was the main means of communication between individual citizens. We felt it was OK to spend tax revenue on the post.

Today, communication between people is via the Web, email, cell phones, etc. You don't need a mailman (mailperson) to deliver a letter to you. It seems that today, the USPS is mainly for packages and junk mail advertising. Hopefully Doge will get around to cutting the waste in the USPS.

Getting packages and shipping mail isn't important? I'd absolutely hate to live in an area that doesn't have a fedex or UPS and if they did, you can bet they'll charge people through the nose now that the option of the post office is gone. That's just simple economics. Eliminate the cheapest option and prices go up at the only services anyone could possibly use.

Trump and his cult: "It's a money pit".

But it's the RWNJ's who caused it to be a "money pit".

Jul 15, 2019 — The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA) required the USPS to create a $72 billion fund to pay for the cost of its post-retirement .

In 2006, Congress passed a law that imposed extraordinary costs on the U.S. Postal Service. The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA) required the USPS to create a $72 billion fund to pay for the cost of its post-retirement health care costs, 75 years into the future.

This burden applies to no other federal agency or private corporation.

If the costs of this retiree health care mandate were removed from the USPS financial statements, the Post Office would have reported operating profits in each of the last six years. This extraordinary mandate created a financial “crisis” that has been used to justify harmful service cuts and even calls for postal privatization. Additional cuts in service and privatization would be devastating for millions of postal workers and customers.

The USPS WAS making a profit, until RWNJ's tried to "fix" it.

If Muskrat had a retirement plan for his employees and was required, by law to fund it 75 years in the future.
He would be on a plane back to South Africa in a heartbeat.

GOOD!!!!

Couldn't get any WORSE than it is now!!!

Lazy workers, inept delivery drivers, ILLITERATE delivery drivers, slow/lethargic/non-existant counter service.......rates keep going UP while losing our packages/mail get WORSE.

Toddlers on Big Wheels would do better!!!

This is a independent agency and the postal board has indicated that they will fight this move in court. This is unlikely to succeed. Trump has no clue how to run it. Trump is more likely to try and privatize it which will hurt rural Americans.
