We need to convert our refineries, difficult to do, to sweet crude. By the way, Iran is loaded like we are with sweet crude. China and the USA both use high sulfur crude, called dirty crude.

I do know this, if the price of gas/jet fuel gets too low, oil companies don't just keep refining the products...they cut back on production to keep the prices high and stay profitable. Anyone who grew up in Texas like I did knows how the oil patch works.

If the refinery that is supposedly being built is going to be owned by a private enterprise, they are going to do the same thing.

So, if they plan to turn a profit, they will refine oil and produce when it is profitable. To your point, yes, there will be more gasoline and jet fuel on the market. So the price will go down. However if the price gets too low, they simply cut back on production to keep the profit at a certain level.

I pumped gas for .20 c per gallon. I paid 10c per gallon in Germany at the Army base. No taxes were then added to gasoline in Germany to soldiers.
