Rep. Massie Blasts Trump's Iran Warning: "We Have Problems At Home"

Odd--- where was the concern about wars and problems at home when Biden was dumping hundreds of billions into Ukraine while antagonizing Putin? Didn't we have problems then?

Come to think of it, didn't Joe Biden literally CAUSE most of our problems here at home?

"First it was over the White House's Venezuela policy, but now conservative and contrarian libertarian-leaning firebrand Rep. Thomas Massie is lashing out at President Trump over his fresh Iran warning and ultimatum.

Amid the nearly weeklong economic and anti-government protests in Iran, Trump added fuel to the fire on Friday, stating on Truth Social that if Iran shoots and "violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue."

This sounded to many like threat of regime change in another Middle East capital - though Trump might be thinking of other 'options' such as more sanctions and efforts to further isolate the Islamic Republic on the world stage.

Massie on Friday in response listed three points as a counter to and critique of Trump: "We have problems at home and shouldn’t be wasting military resources on another country’s internal affairs," Massie wrote on X.

He said that second, "Military strikes on Iran require Congressional authorization." He followed with the final criticism of, "This threat isn’t about freedom of speech in Iran; it’s about the dollar, oil, and Israel" - while reposting Trump's original message.

Massie has long been a thorn in the side of Trump's latest foreign policy adventures, and the Republican from Kentucky along with Sen. Rand Paul has a significant following among Trump's MAGA base.

He indeed gives voice to the growing viewpoint that Trump should stick to his campaign promises and not allow the United States military to be the "police force of the world".

Trump says "I'm not a war president" then goes after Greenland, Canada, Venezuela, Iran etc

Trump says he's different, then goes after two of the four OPEC countries that hated the US in 2003 (Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, Libya of which Bush dealt with Iraq, Obama with Libya). So different.

Not sure what we reality you live in but we aren’t at war with any of those places

Massie is an isolationist. It's one of the things I disagree with him on. The Mullahs being deposed and a free Iran are better for the world, not just Iran and not just the United States. The UN should be fully behind these revolutionaries, but it's a completely useless organization.
I'm not for being Totally Isolated Taz, but I also do not Believe that America should be sticking it's nose into the Business of every Nation.

We can not dictate to the World how it should live, especially when We are having so many problems that only go unsolved.

"The Mullahs being deposed and a free Iran are better for the world,"

I Agree, but,.... America can not take it upon itself to make Iran Free, that Act,..... Will end up like Viet Nam, Iraq, & Afghanistan did, with the Outcome being even worse for America

And Yeah,.... The UN is just as worthless, as a "Pet Rock".

'We are locked and loaded': Trump threatens to attack Iran regime if protesters harmed

'The United States of America will come to their rescue,' President Donald Trump announced about the protestors on Truth Social.

US President Donald Trump declared that the United States was "locked and loaded and ready to go" if Iran killed any more protestors, in a post on Truth Social early Friday morning.

An advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Ali Larijani, responded to Trump's message, in a post on Twitter/X, stating that "Trump should know that American interference in this internal issue is equivalent to chaos across the entire region and the destruction of American interests."

Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi also continued to encourage the Iranian people on day six of the protests in a post on Twitter/X.

"You are making history; a history written with the courage, solidarity, and determination of a nation to reclaim its country," Pahlavi said in his post. "Stay united. Stay focused on the goal. Victory is ours."

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also posted in support of the protestors, saying that "the people of Iran deserve a free life, liberated from the killer dictator, Khamenei."

Thursday saw confirmation of several deaths occurring during the protests, including two people killed in the Lordegan after authorities opened fire on the crowds demonstrating.

The Hengaw human rights group also reported that authorities killed protester Dariush Ansari Bakhtiariwand with live fire during a protest in Isfahan province on Wednesday night.

Protestors taken by Iranian authorities

An unknown number of people were also taken by authorities, reports indicate, including at least seven people detained after they rallied in Kermanshah.
Since the Israel-Iran war in June, Iran has been accused of silencing dissent by carrying out executions against those it accuses of foreign collusion, manufacturing evidence, and using torture to collect confessions from victims.

"Locked & Loaded": Trump Says US Will Intervene If Iran Kills Protesters

President Trump has just become the first sitting US President to explicitly warn that the United States stands ready to directly intervene in Iran if Tehran authorities begin killing peaceful protesters, as he wrote Friday that Washington "will come to their rescue".

In a brief early morning post on Truth Social, he wrote: "We are locked and loaded and ready to go." He gave no further details what course of action this might take, but it's a pretty clear and provocative message to Iranian leadership - or comes very close to saying something akin to the 'Ayatollah must go'.

Trump's full message is as follows: "If Iran shots [sic] and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue."

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei did respond in very short fashion, with a senior aide from his office saying Trump should "be careful" if he intervened, warning of unleashing more chaos in the region.

"Trump should know that US interference in this internal matter would mean destabilizing the entire region and destroying America's interests," Khamenei adviser Ali Larijani stated.

The economic protests which have been raging since Sunday, and have spread from the marketplaces to the universities, have turned deadly. International monitors and media have said six have been killed.

However, Iranian officials are saying at least one of these deaths and many among the injured are security forces. The slain officer was said to be a member of the Basij - a paramilitary force linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). In several locales Basij members have been observed supporting local police forces, as is typical whenever major anti-government protests flare up.

Newsweek reviews of the violence so far in the country of over 90 million people:

  • Deaths were reported in Lordegan, Kuhdasht, and Isfahan, though casualty figures vary between state media and rights groups.
  • The Revolutionary Guards said one member of its Basij paramilitary unit was killed in Kuhdasht, with 13 others wounded.
  • Rights group Hengaw identified the man as a protester, contradicting official claims.
  • Demonstrations spread to Marvdasht in Fars province, while arrests were reported in Kermanshah, Khuzestan, and Hamedan.
Most of the protest deaths have come in the West of the country, and mounting casualties from the unrest has been confirmed in Iranian state media - though few details have been given in some instances on whether these are police or protesters.

The initial response from leadership in Tehran:

With the statements by Israeli officials and @realDonaldTrump, what has been going on behind the scenes is now clear. Trump in openly siding with the protests may have just done one of two things: either he has just supercharged the protests and will given people in the streets motivation to provoke security forces even more - after some government buildings have already been broken into, or else his words serve to quash the protests fairly quickly.

After all, Iranian authorities have already warned against outside interference and meddling, at a moment they are eager to brand rioting youth in the streets as Israeli or American agents. But now they can be branded by officials as doing to bidding of Washington and of President Trump. The people in the streets are unlikely to want to be branded as in America's corner, given it's been the US all along decimating their economy through years of brutal sanctions.

Signs of pro-government and nationalistic 'counter-protests' have emerged:

Huge crowds are marching toward the resting place of General Soleimani in Kerman to mark the sixth anniversary of his martyrdom.

It should also been questioned whether the United States actually cares about the 'Iranian people'. Did Washington actually care about Syrians while fueling a decade-long plus proxy war by arming the hardline jihadi anti-Assad insurgency? Definitely not.

Iran's military responds:

Iran’s Defence Minister dismissed Trump’s remarks, saying Tehran would retaliate decisively against any attack and insisting its military strength has grown since the last 12-day conflict.

Also, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf has said that "all American centers and forces across the entire region would be legitimate targets" in response to any potential US "adventurism."

Trump's new words just added heavy fuel to the fire, and this portends possibly the same Syria playbook applied to Iran

Toob,...... Here's an "Odd" piece of data,...... I've not Trusted the bulk of America's POTUS since after Ronald Reagan.

And, due to no access to the Internet back in the 1980s,.... I Trusted Reagan up to the point of hearing what all was involved in the "Iran-Contra Affair", as well as the Marines getting killed in Beirut Lebanon.

If Data were available as quickly, & easily as now, back in the 1980s,.... Then I would've quickly lost faith in Ronald Reagan.

But regarding your statement,...... " where was the concern about wars and problems at home.... " Today, I look upon Democrats & Republicans, as either the "Palm of the hand", or "the back of the hand", meaning that they are working together towards causing these problems.

I have long liked and respected Massie.

But still, there are times when and topics about which he really needs to just STFU.

I don't think saying that we don't need to be involved in the internal affairs of another country makes him an "isolationist".

As I pointed out before, and I know you won't agree, Iran is not just an Iranian problem. They're a problem for the entire world. They are the biggest financiers of terrorism. Hopefully, this current effort by the Iranian people will finally bring down the regime and we won't need to worry about it any longer. I'm skeptical because past attempts have failed, but these are the largest and longest lasting demonstrations we've ever seen since the Ayatollah himself took over almost 50 years ago.

By using the words "Narco-Terrorism", & "Christian",..... Trump now can Attack practically every Nation on Earth, so as to stop the Actions of the Drug Cartels, & those who hate/persecute "Christianity".

And to apply his mindset to America,...... Trump can now call Air Strikes upon Cities that he proclaims to be exporting Drugs to other Cities, or that persecute "Christians",..... After all,..... The American Military Assisted Law Enforcement in seizing Maduro.
Kinda like Hiroshima,................
