FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — U.S. President Joe Biden has threatened to block the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline if Russia invades Ukraine.

The undersea pipeline directly links Russian gas to Europe via Germany and is complete but not yet operating. It has become a major target as Western governments try to deter a Russian attack on its neighbor.

It's only a hop, skip, and jump to the XL pipeline. Enlarging its capacity to carry oil from ANWR would create unknown thousands of Canadian and American jobs. You know damned well Canada would jump at an opportunity like that.

Keystone XL's toxic sludge cannot be sold in the US because it will refined in a Free Trade Zone. All of it will be sold overseas and the US gets no taxes. We take all the risks to give the Chinese a tax break. Further, it will create abut 1200 temporary jobs for pipeline construction companies. Trump is just too damned stupid.

Thanks. This is totally different from the headline here. Joe Biden liked to use this pipeline on reason to make Russia clear that it is irrational what they try to do - because this will damage their own economy in this case. And this was exactly what the German government also intended. In those days still existed the hope Russia will keep some rationality in the own actions. Unfortunatelly the pipelines Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 had been destroyed a short time later from unknown people so that a diplomatic hope to open this pipelines again in case of concessions made from Russia was not possible any longer. Some idiots destroyed this instruments without any need to have to do so.
