Fiscal Conservatism is not a viable political strategy. It is pointless for any Republican to pursue it because s/he will presently be voted out of office, making their principled stand meaningless.

The Democrats have woven a "safety net" of hundreds of unconstitutional* programs and agencies, the purpose of which is to make as many people as possible dependent on government, to one extent or another. Barry Soetoro openly stated that he wanted to make as many people as possible dependent on "food stamps," and he succeeded. Now those forty million wretches are reliable Democrat voters.

The same thing was done with the ACA subsidies. They created a disaster in health insurance premiums for the majority of Americans by forcing insurers to include those with "pre-existing conditions" into the same risk pool as healthy Americans, thus ensuring that premiums would skyrocket, then they hid those increases with a "temporary" gambit - paying the insurers to keep the rates tolerable. Now when Republicans want to take away the "temporary" remedy, thus exposing the failure of ACA, THE REPUBLICANS ARE THE BAD GUYS!

What is a principled Republican fiscal conservative to do? I don't mean with his vote; we know that already. I mean what will he do next year after he is voted out of office?

What do you mean by "not even be a consideration?"

If you mean that neither side should target non-aggressive civilians with no no plan of targeting aggressive combatants or other military purpose, I agree.

But I'm not sure what you mean since I know that the Arab side does this as a matter of policy and strategy but I don't know of Israel doing it.
