ABC's 20/20 Swabs Movie Theaters — And What They Find Ain't Pretty​

A news report says 20/20 swabbed several theaters in New York and Los Angeles, collecting 17 samples in total. They then sent the samples to New York University Professor of Microbiology, Phillip M. Tierno, Ph.D. to analyze.

Tierno found evidence of bacteria found in cattle and soil, as well as bacteria commonly found in human feces and yeast.

“You have to be aware that the armrest, the seat and other areas of the theater are contaminated with the public that sat before you,” Tierno told 20/20. “When you wear shorts or have open lesions in the skin, you might subject yourself to a risk of an infection.”

It's unclear how often theater seats are cleaned. The professor's advice?

“One of the things, when I’m eating popcorn, is not to touch the seats with your right hand,” he said. “If you’re going to hit the armrest, keep your hand in the air...always have a ‘good hand’ and a ‘bad hand.’”

Really ? I exhibit none of these attributes on this forum ? Well I'll have to disagree.

If someone has a point that is a great one, then I'll agree and like the point made, now it may not mean that the entirety of the person is always good, but I'm not looking for that in people because none of us are perfect. I do onto other's as I would have them do unto me. When I get negative feedback after giving it, I understand that, but it doesn't define the person as a total loss in my opinion, and I would hope likewise is the case.

Always hopeful that people will seek the Lord's wisdom and knowledge concerning their salvation before it's to late in life. Just because I disagree doesn't mean I hate you. Infact I don't hate anyone, but I sure don't like some of people's habits, positions taken up or their attributes in life. It's all about hating the sin, but not the sinner.

Here's the way I look at a lost soul that once was an innocent little child that may have died as an adult in their sins. I think to myself in a vision that the person is returned to their child like state where all demons are removed if had not committed blasphemy or murder of the innocent, and their child like innocence is recaptured in God's favor. I picture them running across a field where they would meet their parent's after their lives were also restored, and the reunion of God's creation was in such a moment made whole again. God can do anything he pleases, and it's not up to us to judge who he would have mercy upon or who he would not have mercy upon.

I think we've found a winner. Yes, this is the likely culprit. Underlying reasons are that people are probably becoming germ phobic, crime phobic, and inflation phobic. Much easier to just say screw the outside world, I'm staying and ordering Uber Eats.

Well that is exactly what is happening. It's a darn shame though. Miss the days when people were polite and congregated. Had some good times at the theater. Had some good times at the drive in. Seems as though all the good stuff is disappearing.

Theaters have been going down since the VCR became affordable. I do not miss the high prices, sticky floors, people talking, kids screaming, sound way too loud, having to miss 10 minutes of the movie going to the bathroom, not being able to smoke, the long drive home in the middle of the night and all the other hassles. I do kind of miss the drive-ins though.

If they allowed people to smoke, there would be even fewer moviegoers!

We used to go to the movies every week, without fail. But Leftists/socialists/America-haters are so rich, so filthy, they turned us off. The last two or three movies we went to see were so bad, we walked out and got our money back. They lie about America, they lie about our military, they lie about how serially racist Americans are, they lie about how awful men are while celebrating the mentally ill, which so many of Hollywood Glitterati are themselves. Transgenders, homosexuals, pedophiles, drug addicts, a thoroughly sick bunch, but hey, they've got money, so......

Only 12 theaters are closing, instead of all 542. More's the pity.

"Regal Cinemas’ parent company, Cineworld, is closing down theater locations as part of an ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, according to Deadline. 12 theaters across the country, out of a total of 542, will be shut down as the company wades through financial difficulties brought about by Covid-19 closures. The move is based on projections that the theater industry won’t return to pre-pandemic income until at least 2025."
