Robert Byrd as a Blue Dog Dem. As was GW and Fullbright. You will notice that when they left office (for whatever reasons) they were replaced by modern Republicans who operated the same exact way. Byrd was right of his replacement (Moscow Mitch).

Emancipation had been a New Year's Eve, "Wartime Measure(?)" with nothing ameliorative offered at the time--regarding the freed people. So poor planning one was in place for months and months. Poor planning two was the theater event(?). There should have been a race track alternative nearby, even(?)! Poor Planning Three was the atrocity. The asset values of the South were shattered. Nothing even reasonably progressive was put in place to restore the Southern Economy.
