Red is reserved for Mods rule?

It's done all the time. Why should I believe you anyways, you already established the fact that you'll lie to win an argument.
Huh? Really? Me thinks you are talking to your reflection in the mirror on that last comment! ;)

All I am telling you ...is the USMB protocol and procedures I knew as a Mod back in the Ancient World, and I have not seen a written change to notify posters that posting in Red Rules have changed.

No existing Mod has come on this thread to say the rules changed, and I am wrong yet.

Which is possible...

But I will say, I have never seen a MOD doing MOD work in public like closing a thread or correcting a poster, without it being in Red for the 18 years posting here.

That's because they open the moderation que which is there whenever they log on.

Liar.

I once got a 7 day ban on a first offense with no priors for pointing out to Coyote that IM2 shouldn't be using big bold red fonts several times to talk down to people like he was somebody in a thread that he and she were both participating in. I had asked in the thread why he was being permitted to do so right in front of her, literally in posts right before hers.

Only time I ever got thrown in the hole on here.

That bogus shit is still on my record, too. Ha.
You have a record now?

Damn, I hope you're retired, as that can affect your employment opportunities. Don't ever mention this on any applications, I doubt they will run a background check.

I was a Mod ages and ages ago and there was NO RULE that posters could not use red.

The rule was that MODS were just like any other poster here at the site when responding to posts or starting new threads in BLACK ink....call them names if allowed in the thread zone, disagree with their posts front wards and backwards at your desire....they are just everyday users.

BUT when a MOD responds or posts in RED INK, they are being MODS, and moderating.

It was a way for Mods to continue to have fun and give their comments and be the poster they were before they were appointed and accepted the MOD position, and still be a MOD, when posting in Red.

So, if posters saw the MOD posting in Red, it meant the MOD was in their MOD role.

It's been a rule since 2013 -

You've just opened up a can of worms for yourself as to which message board that could be -

Peggingforum.org

Etc.. lol
.

I know better than to fall for that.

It was probably near the top of the list of American MB's, and far less open than this one. Right wing members get treated far more harshly than leftists and very few of their mods lean right. I got perma-banned, but not for a public offense.

Mods there do not get to post as members -- only as mods.

.

.

I've only ever used one other message board steadily, and they had the same rule.

.
I have been active on a number of message boards for a time. None as long or as prevalently as I have been active here at USMB. This is the only board that the color red has been an issue but maybe it just never came up that I noticed anywhere else?

But I have understood--not sure where I got the idea--that we shouldn't post in bright bolded red as that was the color the mods used for informational or reprimand posts. Not sure how often I've broken that unwritten rule--probably now and then--but I suppose it really isn't an oppressive rule.

I got this "odd" alert....Is someone hackin' on me or is this for real? ;)

Can a mod cite the rule that spells out that "Red is reserved for Mods"?

Not that I really care, it's fine, but I culled though the rules and could not find it.

If that is indeed the case then please remove the red option from the color
palette.

I must have "red bolded" hundreds of sentences before.

I didn't even know we could do that.

Red is reserved for mods, so the site put it the colour palette for everyone to use 🤔

They can still gig ya on the 'invisible rule book' line.

"Not all Rules and Regulations are written".

I used this shade of red and not this shade of red and had a post edited.

My understanding was this shade of red is reserved.

At the end of the day, you better not cross the red line................ :auiqs.jpg:

Is there any truth to the old wives tale, that the screws in joint simply couldn't make the cut for the police and fire departments?

Not red.

Yes, it has been a rule but rarely enforced. There is another color next to the red and it can look like red, and that is the one I have used. It's a rust orange'reddish color but NOT red.

Here, you see what I mean. #D14841
Here is the red. #B8312F

I think we need to put it to the test.

I have sometimes used a red color for emphasis.

To my knowledge, it hasn’t caused any Mod consternation.

Test: this sentence is in red (one of the red colors, anyway) and in bold.

Which shade of red?

RED

RED

RED

RED

We have multiple code red violations here but I wonder if this would work... (See next post since I can't get the darn thing to work here for some strange reason.)

Edit: It won't let me write Merry Christmas in red and green... Bah humbug!! 😡
