Red Cliff. This is what I call a war movie!
This takes place in the 3rd century near the end of the Han dynasty.
This one is John Woo at his best, and was filmed in China. They must have paid the cast of thousand pennies on the dollar. The costumes, the sets, everything is very elaborate. All for a budget of just $80 million.
There are a large number of epic battles.
There is some high flying wire work typical in Chinese martial arts movies, but not that much, actually.
Well worth the watch.
Don't cheat yourself just because there are subtitles. You don't know what you are missing.
