Not the same. Not even close. So if you want to use a specific quote to criticize a group; make sure you're criticizing the group from where the quote originates...Catholics are Christian.
What's the difference? And how are you objectively arriving at it's not even close? Not the same. Not even close.
Just ask between the two. Do you consider Mormons to be Catholic? What's the difference? And how are you objectively arriving at it's not even close?
Apologies to Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, but the foundation of the Catholic faith are the teachings of Jesus Christ, the belief in the Holy Trinity, and the sacraments. It seems to me that a lot of people on this site who profess to be Christian often forget this one:
"Each of you knows that the foundation of our faith is charity. Without it, our religion would crumble. We will never be truly Catholic unless we conform our entire lives to the two commandments that are the essence of the Catholic faith: to love the Lord, our God, with all our strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves."— Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati
No and I don't see how that answers my question. Mormons deny the Trinity. Catholics and Christians don't.Just ask between the two. Do you consider Mormons to be Catholic?
Maybe a better way of saying it is that Protestants are a sect or branch of Catholicism as Catholicism is a sect or branch of Judaism.Catholics are Christian.
You beat me to it. It is clear that we as a people have little regard for ourselves, so in like manner we have little regard for others, thus we actually do "love others as ourselves".Let's take a look at how we love ourselves: When we give ourselves a dressing down, many times if we were to give another person that same, well-deserved dressing down, we would get a punch in the face, or it might be a long time before that person ever spoke to us again. Every time we take a flight we are reminded to put on our own oxygen mask before attempting to help others. How well do we love ourselves, and should we take a look at that first? A third example: I have two chinchillas (Peruvian rodents for those unfamiliar with chinchillas.) If the house were to catch on fire, I know absolutely I would die trying to rescue them. Is this a prime example of how much we value even our pets and/or how little we value ourselves?
Could it be what Christians have forgotten is how to love and value themselves? Could it be Christians, whom you are so critical of, are not valuing themselves? How can Christians have any esteem for themselves when they are constantly being criticized and demeaned by those so much better than they are?
Small "c" catholic. All followers of Christ. Catholic means universal, so that covers it.
Are you kidding? People have entirely too much "regard" for ourselves. Anything we think will give us even a moment's pleasure becomes an absolute necessity. If adult responsibilities are too much pressure, we simply avoid them FOR OUR ENTIRE LIVES. Our self-esteem is the highest principle of all, deserved or not. We are overflowing with regard for ourselves, and precious little for anyone else. You beat me to it. It is clear that we as a people have little regard for ourselves,...
Catholics will say hello to you in the line at the liquor store. Baptists won't.What's the difference? And how are you objectively arriving at it's not even close?

The Catholic church isn't even close to being a "universal" religion thus the title has little real meaning outside of Catholicism.Catholic.
Anglicans, Lutherans aren't Christian either? Your list of Christian allies is starting to grow thin. The Catholic church isn't even close to being a "universal" religion thus the title has little real meaning outside of Catholicism.
Like "Protestant"?Words have meanings.
I made no list. I believe there are "called and chosen" spirit-led Christians within the ranks of many denominations. They are the "one true church".Anglicans, Lutherans aren't Christian either? Your list of Christian allies is starting to grow thin.
