It was almost the end of the Catholic Church and yet Jesus promised that the gates of Hell would not prevail against it (Mt 16:18)

Marcel Lefebvre and Co. saved the Church. But the novus ordo Church went on acting like HE was in schism when it was the other way around.

Jesus said there'd be days like this.. (in so many words).. spoke of wolves in sheep's clothing, etc..

Vatican II was a ridiculous program, yes. It did highlight the giant gap between the Catholic upper bureaucracy and it's quest for money versus the rank and file Christian believers, so it indeed didn't turn out well for the bureaucrats.
