REAGAN the movie

Excellent way to cause massive unemployment
In the United States:

In 1932, the top tax rate was 63.0%
In 1940, the top tax rate was 81.1%
In 1944, the top tax rate was 94.0%

In 1932, the unemployment rate was 23,6%.
In 1940, the unemployment rate was 14,6%,
In 1944, the unemployment rate was 1.2%

Bill Clinton.

Under Clinton there was low inflation, low unemployment, and he briefly brought down the national debt.

At the expense of gutting our military and it's preparedness for dealing with post 9/11/2001 by drastic cuts/reductions in funding. Also added to later costs of R&D Projects by abrupt funding cuts that had to be regained in later restarts.
Which Clinton helped to set up with his botched job dealing with OBL and Islamic Jihad.

The United States then and now spent more on our military then the next five or six countries combined. We were at peace. The Cold War was over. It was an appropriate time to reduce military spending.

The left wing harpoons were out immediately even if they didn't see the movie. Meanwhile the lame Obama promotional movie "Southside with you" got rave reviews from the Guardian and a positive review from roger Ebert. That's the way the system works.

Reagan stole weapons from his nation, sold them to a régime his nation had forbidden such dealings with and used the illegal funds in an illegal, un-Constitutional fashion to arm groups his nation had forbidden arming. That is only part of his miserable history. He was just a "feel good" illusion that facile minds love to worship.
and when you post these irrefutable facts on reagans corruption and checkmate the reagan worshippers knowing they have been =taken to school instead of even trying to refute the facts when challenged,,they do this all the time when getting checkmated :scared1: :auiqs.jpg:

we can put our live savings on the line the movie did not cover that. :auiqs.jpg:

We were not "at peace" as the "Cold War" against numerous adversaries was still on-going.
Honestly adjusted exchange rates will show the USA provided better pay and benefits for currently active military members as well as better post service benefits than any other nation.

Plus we lead in R&D which many Allied nations received at low to no cost and which our adversaries often stole as well.

Given a World in which so many other nations were proportionally as armed, if not more so; along with numerous conflicts and wars constantly engaged, the "Cold War" illusion was irrelevant when dozens of smaller 'hot wars' are raging globally.

Since 1945 the USA has kept this World out of another Global War (World War III), yet if left to idiots like you we would have seen this planet burned in WWIII decades ago.

USA military power/might used in intimidation is what has kept this world in relative global wide "peace" the last several decades compared to what the other, fellow nations would have drug us into had they been give the power and freedom to do so.

Twice within a century the USA got dragged into a global conflagration caused by our 'older' and "superior" predecessor nations (of the 'Old World') and twice we had to put the end to such insanity. So far this third time around we've managed to keep the rest of the 'Old World' from repeating their centuries old penchant for conflicts/wars ~ local and global ~ and with luck, and avoiding the folly such as shown by your ignorant sort, we might make that peace last a few more decades.

Go back to picking toe-jam from between your digits, that's the most you are qualified for!

Your "life savings", as if you personally have such, are already "on the line" through fascist-socialist dimnuts like Biden and Kamala Harris, along with the Obama's and Clinton's before them. None of this class of grifters has a clue on economics to produce wealth, only on how to scam and steal from others who are producers.

Much the same as you do I'd suspect.

Be thankful you don't have to really earn your own keep yet.

Well Stryder , i'll agree we're not at 'peace', but then it's been something of a premium over two centuries as a new nation

So you tell me (et all) what's in it for us to bow down to , and follow in lockstep with the MIC

In 2023 the United States spent $916.0 billion on our military. That was more than Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea combined. When our allies are added to the total, our military superiority is overwhelming. That is not only unnecessary; it is unnecessarily provocative.

Republicans in Congress like to spend enormous sums on our military because military contractors are big campaign contributors. Then they think it is acceptable to spend for this with borrowed money.

Stryder50, you are sure America's intentions are peaceful. The people of Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq have reason to disagree.

Agreed. Unfortunately it isn’t just the R Party who loves lavishing the war contractors with our money.

Nothing is more bipartisan than war spending.

That's a little dishonest, Cockroach.

Russia and China have lower costs of living and they conscript their militaries. Sure, we have to spend more because we have to pay our military members a salary that is competitive with the civilian sector.

Afghanistan sheltered people who knocked down the towers, Cockroach. Did you forget that happened?

Iraq was living under a brutal dictator who attacked all his neighbors, including your beloved Zionist Entity. (Who were really the ones who provoked that war.)

Vietnam- that was 55 years ago, get over yourself.

Reagan convinced Republicans that deficits do no matter as long as they are the result of tax cuts for the rich.

Well, let's put the blame where it belongs: on Democrats and Republicans who just refuse to stop spending. Both parties are guilty of that, because borrowing is easier than increasing taxes or cutting programs people like.

Here's the real problem, though. The two biggest ticket items on our Federal Budget are still Medicare and Social Security, which are flat, capped taxes. These programs used to run at a surplus that was converted to bonds and used to cover shortfalls in General Fund programs.

They are running our deficits out of control today because 1) People stopped having enough babies to create workers to pay into the programs, and 2) the average life expectancy rose from 62 in the early 1960s to 78 today.

Not at all. I'm not a pacifist. I enjoyed my time in the military and we need to make sure our men and women in uniform have the equipment they need to do their jobs.
Get out of the thread if you’re not going to understand what is being discussed.

If you somehow magically think our government’s massive war spending and trillions wasted on multiple dumb wars is appropriate, you’re a dumb MFer.
