Read Leonard Piekoff's OMINOUS Parellels.

it is a LOT easier to read than his opus OBJECTIVISM:The Philosophy of Ayn Rand. the latter is a graduate level text, 700 pages, and if you read 5 pages of it while in bed, you'll be asleep. it took me weeks to wade thru it. It IS great, but man, you have to WANT to read it! The Parellels (of the US and the Weimer German Republic) is VERY illuminating, without being nearly as much of an intellectual 'stretch" as his doctorate-level book.
