Interesting. A sheriff, OK county commissioner (who was Republican by the way) and 2 other people were caught making racist comments about lynching blacks and reporters. They didn't realize that there was a recorder in the room, and interestingly enough, it wasn't to catch them making racist statements, but rather for something else that would have been less controversial.

McCurtain Co. commissioner resigns amid controversy over violent remarks

McCurtain County District 2 Commissioner Mark Jennings has resigned after allegedly being recorded discussing the murder of journalists and lynching Black Oklahomans with members of the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office.

The McCurtain Gazette-News reported that after a March 6 county meeting, officials discussed killing a reporter that works for the paper, and making racist comments toward Black people. The conversation is allegedly captured on an audio recording, and was released online publicly over the weekend.

Apparently, he decided to immediately resign, as he knew he couldn't spin this away. And, the sheriff has been suspended, pending an investigation where he may end up being fired.

Way to go Republicans!

What I think is interesting is that the person who put the recorder there was originally looking to find out if county business was being conducted outside of official channels and ended up getting this.

Whites and Law-abiding blacks should not be offended when N****"s are referred to as N****'s when doing what N****'s do. It is not a racist statement but a fact proven over and over every day.

The guy could have simply had an emotional outburst for a very good reason and said some things that, had he an opportunity to think about the words before he said them, he would have never said those things. The poor guy stepped down because he knows damn well that in today's toxic, authoritarian atmosphere of the leftists, he would be crucified. We are only talking about words, you know. If these words were to comport with the character of the man as judged through his actions, then he most likely would have already been called out as a racist. The story cites no evidence whatsoever that this man would carry out his official duties in a racially prejudiced manner.

A drunken rant in rural Ok. gets national attention but nobody paid any attention when the democrat former governor of VA was found to have paraded in blackface and/or a KKK hood while in college.

In private thoughts everyone thinks what they think

World wide.

"Drunken rant"? Really? You might wanna re-read the article, because it says nothing about it being a gathering in a barroom, but rather a meeting between individuals, and none of them were reported to have been drunk.

Would probably have been easier to explain away and apologize for if they HAD been drunk.

Punishing a man for the words that come out of his mouth is slippery slope to authoritarianism. Tread lightly, jizz breath.
