After the six minute mark in this lecture by Rabbi Manis Friedman, Rabbi Friedman verifies a statement that was given to near death experiencer John J. Davis by a rather suspicious looking character!

Is Rabbi Manis Friedman correct that living things cannot die?

Rabbi Friedman - The Soul and the Afterlife: Where Do We Go From Here?

Sinai Indaba is an annual Torah convention of the foremost international Jewish leaders and thinkers. See more at: www.Sinai-Indaba.comDubbed a "superstar" by the New York Times, world-renowned counselor and philosopher on emotional wellbeing, self-help and spirituality, Rabbi Manis Friedman has attracted international acclaim with his book, Doesn't Anyone Blush Anymore: Reclaiming Intimacy, Modesty and Sexuality in a Permissive Age. Bob Dylan described the book, which is currently in its fourth printing, as a must read, saying that "anyone who is either married or thinking of getting married would do well to read Friedman's book". Rabbi Friedman is the Founder of the first ever women's yeshiva and hosts his own critically acclaimed cable television series, Torah Forum with Manis Friedman.

Here is essentially the same thing that Rabbi Manis Friedman says but this was said to near death experiencer John J. Davis:

Wildflower Meadow

Here’s the last part of my near-death experience. My guide took me to what I can only describe as an absolutely beautiful meadow. There were rolling hills, beautiful flowers, green grass. It was a perfect day.

And then my guide left. I thought I was standing there by myself, and then, all of a sudden, a man showed up in front of me. Nobody told me it was him; I just knew that it was Jesus. He was different from everyone else. I could see his hands, and I could see his feet. I could see what he was wearing. He had a white robe on with a golden sash around his waist, and he had gold-colored sandals that laced up his calves, but he was so bright I couldn’t make out his facial features. Jesus had so much energy and so much light that was pouring out of him.

He said something to me, and it is something I have tried to do my entire life since then. It was like my assignment somehow. Jesus said, “You must tell them there is no death.”

Right after he said those words, I immediately woke up back in the hospital room. I asked the surgeon what happened, and he said, “We lost you. You were gone for seven minutes.”

Ever since then, I’ve been doing what Jesus asked me to do. I’ve been telling people that something happens after we pass, and it’s something absolutely beautiful. There is so much hope and so much joy, which we forget about here because life can be very hard.

There are a lot of hard times in life, and we are not supposed to remember the other side. But when you see someone who has had these experiences, it gives you hope. There is a reason for all of this. It’s all real, and we live for eternity. There is really no end. When people cross over and leave us here, they are not gone from us—we will see them again."

[John J. Davis]

The rabbi simply explains that life and death are two different states that cannot coexist, so if something's state is "dead" then there is no "life" there. That's a silly semantic argument.

Then he explains that the soul is immortal and all things that live have some form of a soul. So when the body dies, the soul stays alive because the soul is life. This is not a particularly deep explanation.

Friedman is hit and miss with me. Many followers of Judaism have suggested that his interpretations are sometimes incorrect.

As it involves life and death, the question is the ultimate one, we will all see one day.

I just know this much, I'm not going to risk my soul gambling that my soul will be sent to the right place just by the consequence of my existence. G-d will decide this for each of us and it is our duty to live as commanded.

For the record even though I had heard most of this lecture - sermon in the past, I am listening to this lecture again, and in my opinion Rabbi Manis Friedman does a brilliant job of dealing with this topic.

The only criticism that I could offer would be to quote near death experiencer Rabbi Alon Anava, who makes the valid point that perhaps Rabbi Friedman is a bit too positive and may not be warning his students and disciples about how serious is the level of danger that all of us are in as of today in 2025, [Rabbi Alon Anava is speaking in 2020, but I do not believe that the level of danger is actually much less than it was back then].

I personally believe that there is zero real contradiction between what Rabbi Alon Anava emphasized in his sermon, with the positive and rather happy approach that Rabbi Manis Friedman uses.

We need to understand both the goodness and mercy as well as the "severity" of our Creator as our JUDGE to fully understand the situation that our Creator is in because of all of us and the dangers that we are putting ourselves into by our lack of genuine teshuva.

"In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old." [Isaiah 63:9]

I personally have listened to hundreds of hours of lectures by near death experiencer Rabbi Alon Anava but I have only listened to a few lectures - sermons by Rabbi Manis Friedman.

There are quite a few lectures by Rabbi Alon Anava that I have listened to three or four or more times.

I like Rabbi Alon Anava's tougher and somewhat more serious approach.

My belief at this time is that you are the one who is incorrect and that Rabbi Manis Friedman is indeed correct!

In my opinion near death experiencer John J. Davis is like a modern Solomon sort of person in comparison to the rest of us.

Although John J. Davis thinks of himself as being a Gentile, he clearly has a pretty major league "Ancient Jewish soul."

It depends. If you look at the Gnostic take on existence and souls, they believed that not everyone is born with a soul (hylic). Some are born with a soul, but can lose it (psychic). Very few are pneumatics or true Gnostics.
Every life is a mission a choice a learning experience. Understanding that this is only a temporary test is true Gnosis.
For those with a soul we are the spark of God. We are eternal. We truly never die, only in the physical form.
Salvation is in you.

If near death experiencers report meeting even their previously deceased pets in the afterlife it would be very difficult for me to believe that some humans have no soul or human spirit.

4. Her Love Connection with Her Dog Maggi
As the density changed, becoming lighter and finer, I felt that I was being lifted to another level of awareness – and then I found myself in surroundings that appeared to be more substantial – Maggi was there. My beautiful dog, my beloved springer, came to me. She had died less than a month before, and John and I still ached from her absence.

I felt her presence, her love, and she appeared to me as she had when she was in physical form – only younger, more vital. She said: “You know that Daddy can’t handle both of us being gone right now.”

“Yes, I’m going back,” I replied. “Will you come soon?”

“When it is time, we will know. Now I will show you wondrous things. Let’s explore together.”

If you are having difficulty accepting the idea that my first encounter on the other side was with a dog, you aren’t the only one. While John thought it perfectly natural, one of our daughters became a little, upset when I told her about it. I think she would have preferred that her mother be greeted by Jesus, an angel, or at least by a family member. I did meet a Master Teacher – I’ll get to that later – but Maggi came first. After all, she had been close “family” for many years, and whoever is responsible for setting up the Welcome Wagon over there certainly knew what a delightful experience it would be for me to be greeted by her.

But I did understand our daughter’s reaction. If Mother was going to have the opportunity of visiting beyond the veil, the least she could do was make it awe-inspiring with some dramatic religious overtones. Fact of the matter is there is nothing particularly “religious” about the other side. Spiritual, yes, but nothing “characterized by adherence to religion or a religion” – to use Webster’s definition of the term. As Harold Richter Stark, M.D., said after his near-death experience and tour of the other side: “One does not go around in an ecstasy of religious fervor, but it is a place of ordered activity.”

I think those people are full of mierda.

I know we all loved 'Mittens' as a kid and were heartbroken when she got run over by the mailman, but Mittens, like that guy who collects Pokémon cards at 40, is a full-on NPC and soulless shell.

I have to disagree because it just rings a bell with me that animals have a soul as well and will meet us in the afterlife.

Clever Hans was an astonishingly bright horse who apparently could perfectly understand what the human asking him questions intended.

Clever Hans (German: der Kluge Hans; c. 1894 – c. 1916) was a horse that appeared to perform arithmetic and other intellectual tasks during exhibitions in Germany in the early 20th century.

In 1907, psychologist Oskar Pfungst demonstrated that the horse was not actually performing these mental tasks, but was watching the reactions of his trainer. The horse was responding directly to involuntary cues in the body language of the human trainer, who was entirely unaware that he was providing such cues.<a href="Clever Hans - Wikipedia"><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></a> In honour of Pfungst's study, this type of artifact in research methodology has since been referred to as the Clever Hans effect and has continued to be important to the observer-expectancy effect and later studies in animal cognition. Pfungst was an assistant to German philosopher and psychologist Carl Stumpf, who incorporated the experience with Hans into his further work on animal psychology and his ideas on phenomenology

Former Atheist and near death experiencer Howard Storm was shown that in the future animals would live with humans in harmony. That is also predicted in Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel.

Animals lived with people, in harmony.

People, in this best of all worlds, weren’t interested in knowledge; they were interested in wisdom. This was because they were in a position where anything they needed to know, in the knowledge category, they could receive simply through prayer. Everything, to them, was solvable. They could do anything they wanted to do.

In this future, people had no wanderlust, because they could, spiritually, communicate with everyone else in the world. There was no need to go elsewhere. They were so engrossed with where they were and the people around them that they didn’t have to go on vacation. Vacation from what? They were completely fulfilled and happy.

Death, in this world, was a time when the individual had experienced everything that he or she needed to experience. To die meant to lie down and let go; then the spirit would rise up, and the community would gather around. There would be a great rejoicing, because they all had insight into the heavenly realm, and the spirit would join with the angels that came down to meet it. They could see the spirit leave and knew that it was time for the spirit to move on; it had outgrown the need for growth in this world. Individuals who died had achieved all they were capable of in this world in terms of love, appreciation, understanding, and working in harmony with others.

That's the beauty of this life and belief. We are all free to have our own take on things. This is the best part. When we finally pop our clogs, we will know the truth.

But it sure is nice that at this time in history millions of people come back after flatlining for a few moments or an hour or so and they give us testimony that there truly is a Genius Master Plan that we are all in. Near death experiencer Rabbi Alon Anava used the phrase "Genius Master Plan."

Rabbi Alon Anava was even shown that there is something like computer coding for the universe that was globs of Energy in the form of the twenty two letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

The massive transformation in how former ATheist Rabbi Alon Anava lived life since he had his near death experience is evidence that he does not think that it was a hallucination.

About Rabbi Anava

Alon Anava
Rabbi Alon Anava was born and raised in Israel. He grew up in Ra’anana in a very secular family without any Torah education or knowledge. He grew up hating religion and anything that had to do with it. He did not believe in G-od and the Torah and lived life as a secular Jew. In 1998, he moved to New York and soon after, on a very special day, the morning of Passover 2001 he had a Near Death Experience due to a sudden cardiac arrest. This event has changed his life for the GOOD!!!

Before his life-altering experience, Alon would describe himself as simply put, ‘not a nice guy..’ but after facing death, and realizing the purpose of life, Alon transformed his very being and since then dedicates his life to serving G-od and Torah observance. Soon After his Near Death Experience he diligently attended Yeshiva studying every day, exploring the depths of Torah, refining and elevating himself on a daily basis for over a decade. Rabbi Alon Anava attended his Rabbinical studies at Yeshivah Kol Ya’akov – Hadar Hatorah in Brooklyn, New York.

After seven years of Yeshivah studies, Rabbi Anava started sharing his Near Death Experience with the public lecturing all around the world at Schools, Synagogues, Yeshivahs, outreach programs and organizations, private sessions and much more, reaching tens of thousands of people at over 2,500 lectures in the past fifteen years. In the past 8 years Rabbi Anava has expanded his out reach efforts through the internet reaching tens of thousands of people resulting with over 500,000 followers worldwide on the internet and social networks. With over 25,000,000 views to his videos, over 1,000,000 DVDs and CDs distributed, his followers enjoy daily Torah studying on his websites, social networks, videos, podcasts, live streaming and live Torah classes and lectures. Rabbi Anava’s followers enjoy his undivided attention through daily phone calls, skype meetings, personal and group meetings along with coaching and assistance. Rabbi Anava and his wife opens their home for hundreds of guests that enjoy their warm and loving hospitality and uplifting Shabbat and holiday meals.

Alon Anava beforeAlon has come back with a gift. He is able to connect to our creator in a very intimate way, allowing him to also connect intimately with others and really help them overcome their questions and concerns and lead and teach them to the right path of Torah observance.

Alon devotes his life to spreading G-od wisdom by teaching Torah every day at lectures, seminars, home gatherings, schools etc., and sharing his personal life changing experience all over the world. He spends his time sharing his story in an attempt to make it as real for you as it is for him. Our hope is that you as the listener will absorb Alon’s story and wake up to the reality of this world. We hope that you will have the strength within you to rise above what seems like the prevailing darkness and choose light. We encourage you to connect to your maker and begin your spiritual journey to better yourself and humanity as a whole. We encourage you to see the miracle of you!

The statement about the invisible dimensions having computer coding in the form of the Hebrew Alphabet is after the forty minute mark in this lecture.

Rabbi Alon Anava - His Life After Death experience - Amazing New lecture!

Yeah, I think whatever it is, those few religious books cannot begin to explain it.

Yeah, I think whatever it is, those few religious books cannot begin to explain it.

Exactly!

King Solomon said that of the making of books there is no end, that is partly because the afterlife is actually a whole lot better and far bigger than we can relate to from what we are experiencing here.

Here is a short video where a near death experiencer reports meeting his two horses and three little dogs during his forty four hour coma where he was brain dead.

[Robert Marshall, Forty Four Hours in Heaven]

Question:

Will our Pets be in Heaven?

I am happy to say absolutely! Yes!
Those who read the book “44 HOURS IN HEAVEN” already know the answer and why I am so sure. For those who have not had the chance to read the book, I am excited to share how and why my answer is yes.

On May 19th, 2024, I died 3 times and went to Heaven each time I died. When I died the 2nd time, I went to Heaven instantly. Just like the first time I went to Heaven, I experienced the love and peace, the beauty, the smells in the air, and the feelings of being connected to everything and everyone and they were a welcoming familiarity of coming home.

Unlike the first time, I was standing at the edge of a beautiful field of tall grass that had the same beautiful trees scattered throughout. Looking to my left, in the far distance, I saw the inner courtyard and my dad was still there, but this time, my mom was there.

I looked around, still in amazement at how beautiful everything was, how magnificent and bright the colors were, how warm and loving the light, sounds, and smells that filled the air were, and how peaceful and calm it was.

159
It was at this time I was treated to a surprise. Our pets that we love are in heaven!

Two horses and three dogs greeted me. The horses were Carol’s and mine; their names are Shakush and Nugget.

Shakush is a pure white Arabian who has the personality of a playful clown. He would get in the arena without Carol on his back and jump and play with her like a playful dog would do, except he was a horse and much larger, but just as gentle. Carol raised and trained Shakush herself and was the only person who rode him. Carol was and still is an excellent horseperson and rider. She glides when riding, and it is a thing of beauty to watch. When Carol and Shakush were both younger, she would show him at horse shows, and they often finished in the top 3. When Carol would ride him, he was always a perfect gentleman, and they would ride for hours in the arena and open fields. While running uphill on a trail he would buck, tossing his head in absolute joy. Regardless of the hill, the gait, or his mood, Carol could always brace herself for a joyful exuberant buck.

Nugget is a buckskin quarter horse and absolutely beautiful. She did not have the same personality as Shakush, but rather, she always acted very regal and gentle. Carol would ride Nugget, and on a rare occasion, she would share Nugget with me for a trail ride. Nugget was raised and trained by Carol just like Shakush. Both Shakush and Nugget were magnificent horses and were truly a gift and blessing from God.

160
Three dogs greeted me with our two horses. Two of the dogs that greeted me are named Fudge 1 and Fudge 2 because they are dark brown and sweet, just like Fudge. We named all of our dogs Fudge, so we don’t get their name wrong when a new pet joins our family. There was a third dog that approached me in Heaven with the others, but I did not recognize her. I later learned the dog was named Annie and was Carol’s dog before we met.

Fudge 1 was a rescue dog that was a sweet little dog that would run and play his game of catch me. Of course, it was only when he decided to let us catch him that we were able to. Then he would cuddle up like the sweet dog he was. It was his way of playing.

Fudge 2 was used as a bait dog prior to our rescuing him. He wanted to be sweet and loving but had some prior issues as a result of his abuse before he became part of our family. There were times he would snap or have a flashback. It took a long time and a lot of love before he would trust us. However, he eventually did, and he turned out to be a sweet little boy. He would jump around like a kangaroo. He was unbelievably quick and would spring around like a bouncing ball. He still had flashbacks occasionally, back to when he was abused and treated so meanly. When this happened, it was as if he recognized what happened and was sorry for snapping at us, that was when we got the most loving and cuddling from him. Our best efforts did not erase his abuse on earth. In heaven he’s no longer like that. He is a happy puppy running and playing.

161
The third dog's name was Annie. I didn’t know the third dog's name until I was out of the hospital and was telling Carol about going to Heaven and our pets being there. It was when I described the dog I did not recognize that she said it was her dog, Annie. Carol had Annie before I even knew her. Mystery solved.

We currently have a dog, and of course, that is Fudge 3. He is a spitting image of Fudge 2, only sweeter.

So, when I say that our pets are in Heaven, it is not just a hopeful desire; it is an eyewitness account. I saw our horses and dogs, and they were as happy as they could be, waiting for us to come home." [Robert Marshall, Forty Four Hours in Heaven[.

We hope it's better. We hope it's Shangri-La to make all of this mess worth living. Some even speculate that Earth is the domain of Satan. IDK, no one really does. There is proof of that because there are so many different versions of what "there" is like.
You have your Christian version, your Buddhist version, Jews have one, Muslims...on and on.
I say just hang out. You will eventually know. Or maybe you are one of those born without a soul...then you won't o_O

I do not believe that anybody is born "without a soul" but there are invisible entities that can influence us and give us the impression that the Hopelessness that they feel due to their horrible errors from thousands of years ago are our situation as well. But they are lying to us when they attempt to put their lack of Hope over onto us.

Actually a near death experiencer was shown that former Covering Cherub Helel began to fall about seventy million years ago and had fully fallen by about sixty five million years ago. That detail made more sense out of the Book of Genesis, especially the details about our grandparents in the Garden of Eden.

b. Mission Information Revealed by the Being of Light

Some NDErs describe encountering a Being of Light who gives them a life review where their mission is revealed in profound detail. Other NDErs learn from the Being of Light that their mission cannot be revealed. Either way, the NDEr usually forgets the details of their mission upon returning to earthly life.

During her life review, Lynnclaire Dennis was informed by the Being of Light of her mission in life – a rare occurrence in NDEs – because often the NDEr is told they cannot know it or that they will be made to forget it upon return. In Lynnclaire’s case, a Being of Light she refers to as “The Presence” revealed to her a special mission she was to perform: “Lynnclaire, you will be a catalyst for change, for love. You will bring forth, hold, and honor remembrance. You will bring to conscious awareness the realms, realities, and remnants in order that the spirit may remember the dance.” Her NDE encounter with the Light, which she refers to as “The Pattern”, led to a scientific discovery involving the topology of the Light.

The Being of Light told Lisa M. during her life review that her mission is to learn and practice love, and to help others: Lisa encountered a radiant male Being of Light who radiated unearthly, unconditional love. The Being revealed her entire life in a single, instantaneous vision and gently reminded her of her true purpose: to grow in love and compassion, to express these qualities on Earth, and to help others however she could.

Joon O. learned from the Being of Light that her mission is to help a lot of people: “He (Being of Light) said, ‘It’s not your time to come here yet. Go back there and help a lot of people, and then come back!’… I had to return to this world with a specific mission: Help lots of people!”

Rabbi Manis Friedman says that living things cannot die?

Nope. He's wrong. Everything and everybody dies.

But does our consciousness continue and merely go into a higher energetic dimension of space and time? We live in a four dimensional space time continuum and in a five dimensional universe electromagnetism would be a component of gravity.

"It was not until 1920 that the idea of linking electromagnetism and
gravity resurfaced. At that time a new theory of gravitation had been proposed by Albert Einstein (1879-1955), called the general theory of relativity. It was a replacement of Newton's theory, which had stood unchallenged since 1687. Inspired by Einstein's work, a young German mathematician named Theodore Kaluza was seized by a curious idea. The theory of relativity links space an time together to form a four-dimensional space-time continuum. What would happen, mused Kaluza, if general relativity were formulated in five rather than four dimensions? This is what Kaluza did, and to everyone's astonishment it was discovered that five-dimensional gravity obeys the same laws as
four-dimensional gravity as well as Maxwell's laws for the electromagnetic field. In other words, gravitation and electromagnetism are automatically unified in five dimensions, where electromagnetism is merely a component of gravity!"

The only drawback of the theory concerns the extra dimension. Why
don't we see it?
An ingenious answer was provided by Oskar Klein. A
hosepipe viewed from afar looks like a wiggly line, i.e. one- dimensional.
However, on closer inspection it can be seen as a narrow tube. It is, in fact,
two-dimensional, and what was taken to be a point on the line is actually a
little circle going around the tube. In the same way, reasoned Klein, what we normally regard as a point in three dimensional space could in reality be a little circle going around a fourth space dimension. Thus Kaluza's extra
dimension might well exist, but be impossible to detect because it is closed
(circular) and rolled up to a very small circumference. In spite of
these bizarre overtones, it seems probable that in future a "theory of everything" will make use of the idea of unseen higher dimensions."
.
...

"Although nature manifests four distinct forces, physicists believe that
each may be part of a smaller number of more primitive forces. At high energy, the electromagnetic and weak forces appear to merge into a single "electroweak" force. Some "grand unified theories" suggest that a further amalgamation takes place between the electroweak and strong forces at as yet unattained energies. The most ambitious unification schemes envisage an amalgamation of all four forces into a single "superforce" at ultra-high levels of energy."

"The real burden in the next three centuries will not be the development of fancy mathematics, but the experimental testing of these ambitious theories. All current thinking about total unification assumes that the effects of linking all the forces and particles together will only become manifest at energies that are some trillion times greater than those currently attainable in particle accelerators. Probably we shall never reach such energies directly" ( A Theory of Everything" Volume 21 of "The World of Science)

I sounds to me as if near death experiencer Dr. George Ritchie was shown four higher dimensions. That to me sounds like fifth, sixth, seventh and eight dimensional space time.

If that is what is happening then dimension seven and eight sound fantastic.

e. His Observations of the Temple of Wisdom

The following is the testimony of George Ritchie’s Temple of Wisdom and Heavenly City Experience. They then travel to a completely different realm where some kind of enormous university is located. Spirits dressed as monks busily and happily engaged in some form of artistic behavior or research. An enormous library exists here where all the important books of the universe are assembled. Ritchie asks Jesus if this is heaven. These are the spirits of people who grew beyond selfish desires while on Earth; but, like the spirits in hell, these spirits cannot see Jesus either.

f. His Vision of the Heavenly City

Ritchie is then taken into outer space toward a distant city made of brilliant light – similar in description to the heavenly city in the Book of Revelation (see also Revelation 21:10-27.) This is the place where people go who have become like Jesus while on Earth – a place where love is the dominant focus of life. This is heaven he realizes; but he is not allowed to enter it. Instead, Jesus shows him the future of Earth and is told to return to his physical body. At this point, Ritchie is revived from death.

But does our consciousness continue and merely go into a higher energetic dimension of space and time? We live in a four dimensional space time continuum and in a five dimensional universe electromagnetism would be a component of gravity.

I do not see consciousness as an upper dimension reality. It may very well have an electromagnetic component, which some sensitives might indeed be attuned to receive. If it does, that energy wave spreads endlessly, dissipating in direct function of range. At death, that energy is lowering, with possibly one last pulse, but ends shortly after the heart stops and biologic function ceases. Do not count on an afterlife. You were meant to make the most of this life, this opportunity at consciousness and positive endeavor on this earth, so make people's memory of what you were, who you were, the best you can, lest only infamy lasting forever.
