If conservatives really want to improve pay and improve jobs for the working class why not simply support a higher minimum wage for jobs Americans are ALREADY doing? Why not support union labor protection laws so that the workers can get better pay and benefits for jobs they are already doing?

If the plan is to tariff Americans (yes we pay tariffs) so that it makes us buy more expensive US made goods so that better jobs are available in the US (I guess sewing jeans and gluing shoe soles are better jobs) then why not simply drive better wages for jobs we are already doing?

I am not sure I understand the conservative position on business and workers. Can someone legitimately explain the objective of conservative policy without flame wars?

Now that trump has a little time before he can go back to messing up the economy he is back to his revenge agenda, declaring Miles Taylor to be a traitor and instructing the DOJ to "investigate" him.

I think we all know Bondi will trump up (pun intended) something to charge him with.

NOPE….It’s easier than that…Send 50 million brown cockroaches home…If concrete finishers were making $45 per hour wages all across the employment spectrum would rise.

Then why the tariff business and hate for importing for economical goods?

It's only conservative that would like to improve pay and jobs because.....liberals don't have jobs? Or libs are getting enough from government handouts?

Then why the tariff nonsense if that is the answer? And what do you do with the 5 million unfilled jobs when more Americans are working than ever before?

I’m not seeing a correlation…Can you explain?
If the simple answer is illegal immigration control then why the need for world wide tariffs?

Also, if there are 7.5 million unfilled jobs currently and then you deport millions of workers, who exactly will be doing all the jobs that have no one doing them? It just doesnt really make sense if you follow it through. We need more workers and lower prices which is really the opposite of what you would be suggesting.

Higher minimum wages lead to higher unemployment. California proves that every day. To get higher pay, workers have to improve themselves and be worth more money.

Simple shit…the noncontributing self-serving underground tax free black market economy they’ve built within our legitimate economy would collapse immediately….as planned…concurrently, opportunity for real Americans would open wide, wages for real Americans would skyrocket, education and healthcare would improve immediately, social services for blacks would improve, rents would fall for blacks, emergency services / first response would improve, auto and healthcare premiums would fall, communities would be safer and cleaner, jails and prisons would empty out….Do you need me to continue?
Tell us how the aforementioned couldn’t/wouldn’t happen.

But how do tariffs achieve that objective?

So you are willing to pay more money to American workers to do the work, correct? Then why not raise the minimum wage so that workers get paid the higher wages you are looking for them to have anyway? If companies are unable to pay $7.15 to an immigrant but instead have to pay $17.15 then wouldnt more Americans do those jobs?

I dont understand why, if you just want companies to pay more, you dont support laws requiring them to pay more.

What really raises wages, aside from a little self improvement is competition. A company moving here to avoid tariffs will be competing with existing companies for workers. They can't get away with poor pay and no benefits.

You idiots always want to increase inflation, and the wage increases do not ever keep pace with inflation.

I don’t think you understand tariffs.
The tactic Trump is using to improve the economy is tariffs. Tariffs are when the US government makes US companies give the US government money to bring in imports from certain countries. Those are added to the cost of products and the money goes to Uncle Sam. How does that improve worker job opportunities or their economic situation in any way?

You suggested minimum wages were not good policy. You say workers should just "improve themselves" to get high wages. How does Tariffs help that? Or how does any GOP policy help that?

What will tariffs do? They will increase inflation and there is zero wage increase so it is doubly bad. If you are unwilling to pay people more to do jobs, then why support tariffs if their goal is to move low paying jobs to the US for US workers to do them at higher wages? It doesnt sound like it helps the working class.

So is your goal to get workers better pay and better benefits?

I do not understand how some people can be so clueless when it comes to economics.
One of the main reasons why so many manufacturers left the U.S. is because they could pay a lot less in wages. Paying higher wages does not make manufacturing in the U.S. more profitable or alluring.
Some countries have as much as a 300% tariff on U.S. goods while we may have 3 or 4% on their goods. Why should the U.S. continue with this kind of lopsided policy?
Just because we want cheap junk, stuff we can use or hold for a few months then buy again because it fell apart?
What is wrong with the idea that if a country puts a 20% tariff on our products then we are allowed to put 20% on theirs? If they have no tariffs on ours then we have no tariffs on theirs? It is called a reciprocal trade or another way to put it is level playing field.
China often has extremely high tariffs on our products and they steal intellectual property right and left. A manufacturer can not even take the government or a Chinese company to court.
Exactly why should we buy other countries products when they are not willing to buy ours?
